  2. Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality says:

Camila, good for you for saving that table & chairs. I bet it's gonna look fantastic when you are done with it. I'm trying to learn to sew better too.

  3. Re:Fresh Design Studio says:

Funny, learning to sew is on my summer to-do list as well. My mother-in-law has been searching garage sales for a sewing machine for me. I'm so eager to start I actually picked up a learn to sew book at the library today! Good luck with your chairs!

  4. LindsB says:

I love free finds, the table and chairs are great! They are going to look so pretty with that striped fabric- I cant wait to see how they come out- good luck!!

  5. Lynett says:

I am still battling my sewing machine too.

  10. mrosev14 says:

I am going to buy a sewing machine. That is a summer project. I need to find an inexpensive one though!

That trunk is adorable, I am sure your client will love it.

Also, that table, looks like you have your hands quite full with that one. I am excited to see how that is going to look. Happy sewing.

  11. Centsational Girl says:

That project is so up my alley. Great find. Love the bright colored striped fabric.

If you get frustrated with the sewing, Plan B could be to just spray paint the mesh fabric. I think a Rustoleum product might work, if it's the kind of mesh fabric I'm thinking of. And I can't wait to see what tablecloth or linens you come up with. You have such a great eye.

Yeah! Can't wait to see how it goes – I am searching for a good basic sewing class to take and then I am going to try on my own for the summer. I spent about two hours in Barnes and Noble reading different sewing books and got really inspired – now to actually do it . . .

  17. Bromeliad says:

You can do it. You were smart enough to save the original mesh.

  18. Stephanie Sabbe says:

good luck with the machine! I think i have that one too. That trunk is freakin' awesome!! I would totally dig through my neighbors trash if they had stuff like that in there.

what a great project! cannot wait to see the "after" pictures!

  20. Laura Casey Interiors says:

You have made way more progress than me! I have been in Louisiana for a week and am up to my eyeballs in work, children and a to do list. Sewing machine is going to have to wait a little. I am going to learn through you in the meantime!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]

Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]

For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
