IN HER SHOES: Surroundings

  1. Stephanie Sabbe says:

You are at the top of my blog BFF list. I will look into that chevron tip.

And I'm confused. Is this lady from TN and living in NE? The book?

If so, I am going to email her immediately:)

AND I think we should all go to NeoCon next year. Heard of it? It's in the Chicago Design Mart. Google it. We can start saving our pennies now and we can split hotel rooms. It's next May. It would be SO MUCH FUN.

  2. Linda Merrill says:

Dear Camila – thank you SO MUCH for including me in your "day in the life" post and for your kind words. It's truly an honor!! I've so enjoyed reading everyone's days, especially my Skirted Roundtable compatriots and am so glad we all had such different days to share. Although, I certainly have days like Joni's with fast food and late nights and like Megan, I sometimes actually see the ocean as well. So looking forward to who you have next. This is a great idea for an ongoing series. Bravo to you!

Stephanie – the lecture I attended was by Donna Dorian. She lives in TN and was brought in to speak about her new book AT HOME IN TENNESSEE: Classic Historic Interiors. It seemed a little random at first – such a dedicated Southern theme for a Northern group of designers – but we're all about historic homes here as well and it was truly great to see how beautiful some of the homes were in TN, especially considering the remote location (vs. coastal New England). She showed beautiful images!

  3. Lauren says:

what a long day!!! loved getting a peak into Linda's life & hearing what she said about the seminars helping you put concepts into words so it's more easily discussed with clients… so true.

  5. Design Esquire says:

Great post! I love the sneak peak on what happens at the Boston Design Center.

I also laughed at the picture of the traffic on the southeast expressway – I was stuck in it too on my way home last night!

  6. Cote de Texas says:

omg – I am just exhausted reading this!! Linda, I loved this, plus I loved reading what you said about value in furniture, high costs, etc. – could be a good topic for SRT!

Love this series – what a great idea.

    Joni

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]

round up of budget friendly bar carts

Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]

For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
