Blog Spotlight: DecorWrite

The other day I got an email from one of my previous clients. Along with design my favorite part about helping people design/decorate their homes is getting to know the home owners quite a bit. When I finish a project & leave I truly feel like I made some great friends along the way.

The email I received was to let me know that one of my previous clients, Shannon, had started up a design blog. Not just any design blog, but a blog that merged her love for design and literature. I’m a book worm so I immediately knew it would be up my alley.

Head on over and give Shannon a big hello!

{One of my favorite parts of this design job was reinventing that vintage chair. Shannon did the styling on the side table, provided the pup and snapped this picture.}

Totally need to set up a date with Shannon to snap some pictures of the finished project. You guys are going to love it!

    Oh fun- I’m heading over right now! I’m a book worm too, and I’ll never convert to a kindle/nook. I just love the feel of a book in my hand way too much!

  5. I’m in love with the chair. I have a similar chair and have debated on painting in black. I think I might go for it!

    I have a similar chair (bamboo right?) and I just tried to stain mine with a fairly dark stain, but found that the bamboo didnt take the stain evenly…. which is unfortunate! Just wondering if you have any suggestions, or what color did you paint those ones?

      The chairs are bamboo and where originally wood with staining on them. In order to get your stain to come on perfectly you would have had to have stained off the old stain completely. It’s hard to do and a lot of work.

      We didn’t want natural wood in this space so painting was our best solution. I roughed up the wood with some sand paper, used high-gloss spray paint in black, let that dry and then used gloss wipe on poly.

      It was really simple and made a world of difference.

    The little vignette is inviting…so I’ll hope on over to her blog now!
