Thrifty Friday Finds

Hi All,

I hope you all had a great. Things have been a bit hectic here at the effortless style interiors. We returned home from our vacation at the beginning of the week and Hudson got hit with his first cold. We have now ended the week with me catching that same cold. Not fun. We have been home bound most of the week due to our germs, but I did manage to head out for a little break and check out one of my favorite thrift stores. Take a peek at what ended up coming home with me.

Cute little trinket box that looked a bit like marble to me. It’s made in Italy and was only $5 so it quickly got added to my shopping basket.

{ Another great thrifty find is my black trimmed lampshade. Yes, it’s super easy to add ribbon trim to a standard shade, but for only $14 you can get the shade all done up with the trim. Love it! Available at Target.}

I also stumbled upon a fun yellow vase that caught my eye right away. It was in perfect condition and when I flipped it over I saw it had a label for Royal Haeger pottery, which was know for it’s mid-century design styles.

The deal of the day was this sweet little rocker for my little man:

{It looks like it’s been through a couple of paint jobs in it’s day, but it was over all in great condition. Can’t wait to get to work on it and have little Hudson use it. }

My little outing proved to be a success! Have you scored any great items at a thrift store lately?

P.S. : I swear vacation pics will be up on Monday. With a sick little guy I have not had time to download/edit pictures.

  1. I scored a great set of Norwalk (great furniture although unfortunately no longer in business) club chairs for $30 at my local Goodwill store last week. I am having them professionally upholstered in a soft cream-colored fabric for my renovated basement. What a deal – Goodwill is a great thrifting destination!

  2. I lucked out with a child’s rocker at Good Will and my little dude loves it. There’s nothing a little wood putty and spray paint can’t fix. :)

    Love your thrift store finds. I’ve been doing some “thrifting” myself. Check out tomorrow (Saturday’s) post on chairs that I found for 8.95 each

  6. I love seeing what other people buy when they’re out thrifting. It gives me something to focus on next time I’m there and my eyes are darting in 100 different directions. Great finds!

    There’s just something about a little one that brings out the thrifting! Favorite thing to do. That chair is a terrific find! My 2-year-old Annie has a very similar rocker. She loves to sit in it in the window and read her little books.

  8. I left a purse (quite big) at Target. It was a faux snakeskin one that I wanted to carry my lunch, small purse, and magazines to work daily. One day at the goodwill I came across same purse. for $4 with Target’s tags still on it. SCORE!

    Great finds! I love that lampshade; I am on the lookout for two oversized lamshades for some thrifted lamps that I have. I also love that yellow vase; what a great pop of color!
