weekend recap

Scenes from my weekend…

  1. Sarah says:

I’m not a parent but if out works go for it. Happy birthday

  2. Carrie says:

I never climbed into a crib, but I do lay down with my kids at bedtime to snuggle (ages 6 and 10). I also seem to remember them having trouble sleeping around their first birthdays and other times when they were making big leaps developmentally. 🙂

  3. sarah k says:

Love the last picture, made me laugh out loud…love it!

  4. Jen Walter says:

I laughed so hard when I saw that crib pic! We have two kids and the variety of things that have caused them not to go down for naps or bed is endless. The best was when our now 5-year-old, went through a two-month phase of being scared of her room at about 2.5, and refused to sleep in her room. After sitting in there night after night until she was dead asleep, we went super nanny boot camp for a week to try to get her to stay in there. She would cry in the hall right outside our room, and I would fold laundry and try to “gently ignore” her. She would eventually fall asleep on the hardwood floor next to the stairs by our room. It was heartbreaking. It did pay off though, one week later, she stayed in her room, and she’s been good ever since!

  5. Sisi says:

I used to climb into her cot to breast feed her to sleep, like at least 3 times a night!ha ha

  6. Kara says:

Awesome! No you are not nuts. My husband & I have both done it with our 2 year old. It was a funny thing for her at first but when bedtime rolled around she began to ask for us to join her. Needless to say, we no longer join her but you do whatever it takes!

    • effortless says:

Ah good to know. No one was really commenting saying they had done the same, but I just figured what ever works for us is good enough for me. Happy to know I’m not alone. 🙂

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]

round up of budget friendly bar carts

Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]

For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
