Treat yo self: Vivienne Strauss

I think one of the best pieces of advice to give a person when decorating their home is to go with your gut. If you truly love something it will naturally fit into the style of your home. Your house should scream you, not your favorite TV show, magazine spread or what my designer told me to do. Sometimes you can’t even explain why you love something. Case in point this weeks Treat yo self.

The second I stumbled upon artist Vivienne Strauss’s work I was smitten. I couldn’t explain why exactly, but her works of art just have a great sense of whimsy and I knew right away I needed to own one. While my wallet can’t handle an original she does over a large variety of prints in a variety of sizes.

Here are some of my favorites:

Nora Edmonds takes her dogs for a stroll:

Hitsy Parnell and Bon Bon prepare for the arrivals of their guests:

Florance Vanderploeg and Otto take a ride:

Fern & Gloria desperately gave excuses for not having any cake, they were sure the cats had been liking it:

Despite Bill’s best arguments, Pamela was never going to concede that less was more:

I simply can’t pick a favorite for my own home. I’m leaning towards the top 3 options. Do you have a favorite?

  1. Oh my gosh, I love Florence and Otto. You are so dangerous for my bank account! I almost always love the treat yoself posts.

P.S. Your first paragraph reminds me of Things That Matter by Nate Berkus. I just finished it a couple of nights ago, and it was such a great read.

Love these, especially the bottom one. They remind me of Slim Aarons photos. Also loved your ottoman DIY yesterday! So fun!

I love “The Party”…but I was thinking you might like the bottom one, with the elephant on the table? They’re all great though!!

Good eye Cathy! I did spy the elephant and was totally leaning towards it, but the top 3 work best color wise for the space. We shall see!
