Cute. I have a little clutch of my Grandmother’s that would look adorable in a lucite shadowbox!!

  2. Bethany W says:

I have just recently been handed down my grandmothers dining room table. It was made by her grandfather out of a tree from Valley Forge. It’s a beautiful deep wood, and I can’t wait for it to be the focal point of our dining room.

  3. kristin says:

we have a grandfather clock that my father-in-law made, i love it!

  4. Katie says:

My dad is a wonderful craftsman, and I have kept the kitchen set he made for me when I was a little girl. The cabinet doors have the same decorative inserts that were in my grandparents’ kitchen when I was growing up (and long before that). There is a matching table and chair set that my brother has given to his sons, so my dad recently made a replica for my own children. I don’t know that these can be called heirlooms just yet, but I hope that one day they will be.

I also have several pretty handkerchiefs that were my great grandmother’s. I have framed them as backdrops for my daughters’ initials and other trinkets hanging in her bedroom.

  5. I have an afghan knitted for me by my great-grandma and given to me for my wedding, and now my grandma just knitted a sweet baby blanket for my on-the-way firstborn, so he’ll have a special blanket from his great-grandmother too… heirlooms in the making! I would love to find a way to preserve/display that baby blanket when he grows out of it.

  6. Alison F. says:

I inherited my grandmother’s Rosenthal china set. I love using it when we have company over. It’s particularly special because the pattern is Moss Rose and my Grandmother and I both shared the same middle name Rose. Thanks for the giveaway, I love the baby clothes idea!

They’ve seen better days, and are currently on our back covered porch waiting for inspiration to strike. That True Value video was pretty inspiring! I also have a number of family chairs & a lovely silk scarf my gran brought back from France that I’d love to hang in our foyer. Family heirlooms are the best!!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard!
