Like all of you I have seen agate lacquered boxes pop up on many of my favorite online shops. The $100 plus tag has always detoured me from picking one up, but I knew it could easily be made on the cheap. I picked up the supplies a couple of weeks ago and worked on the project this past weekend. Not only is it less expensive, but it literally took minutes to do.
Step 1: Use gold leafing pen and paint the edges of your agate slice.
Step 2: Add super glue to the bottom of agate slice. A little goes a long way. Remember less is more.
Step 3: Adhere agate slice to lid. Let it set overnight.
Step 4: Admire your pretty new box!
I immediately thought they would make great jewelry boxes. Wouldn’t they be an amazing gift? A chic lacquered jewelry box filled with a necklace, ring or bracelet!
My favorite new jewelry gift is from Keti Sorely Designs. Keti’s shop is filled with amazing personalized/monogrammed jewelry pieces that won’t break the bank. I’ve worked with her in the past and have ordered numerous pieces and I have always been a very happy customer. I was so excited when I got an email from Keti letting me know about her latest necklace. It’s a name plate necklace, which let’s face it every girl has wanted since Carrie rocked hers on Sex & the City, but instead of a generic font it’s done in your handwriting! How cool!
So, I promptly started working on my own name.
I then snapped a photo of my name with my phone and uploaded it on their site.
So easy and such a nice personalized gift to give some one. How cute would it be to have your kids sign their names and get necklaces to wear in their handwriting. Or gift a bride to be her new last name in her own handwriting. You could even just do a word (up to 10 letters) and forget about doing a name.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
Hi! I love this post, I know this is an old post, but I’m wondering where you purchase your boxes?
It should be linked in the post. They were from Container Store
