My personal design style has always been traditional with a twist. In the beginning of my design career I got hit with a lot of mid century modern clients which helped me flex my design muscles, but wasn’t anything I was truly loving. Lately I’ve been hitting my stride with clients and people are seeking me out for my traditional with a twist style and love of color and pattern. So happy about this development! As a designer you know it’s not about you, but the clients so I’m always happy to work in whatever design style they choose, but it’s super nice to be in my personal design zone.
Here is a dining room fabric presentation that I recently did for a client:
It’s a perfect example of traditional with a twist. I’m not normally one to use red in design, but this brick like color that is featured in the main fabric was really calling my name. Pairing brick with blue is a wonderful way to update a traditional color like brick/red.
Main Fabric: GP&BAKER: Nympheus in aqua and sand will be used for window treatments.
Blue on blue patterned fabric: Kelly Wearstler’s Katana in jade and teal will be covering a pair of accent chairs in a seating nook.
Red Diamond fabric: David Hicks La Fiorentina in bed will be made into a table cloth!
Marble fabric: Duralee Paramount collection will be used as accent pillows trimmed in brick.
Teal & Blue small patterned fabric: Celerie Kemble’s Betwixt will be used to cover the dining room chairs.
Circular fabric: Celerie Kemble’s Conundrumwill be for head of the table chairs and trimmed out blue banding.
Swoon! Loving this color story!
