Did you know that this Friday is National Donut Day! Amazing, right? A perfect excuse to eat a yummy delicious treat and not feel guilty about it, because pretty much the government or who ever declared it National donut day is forcing us to do so. 🙂
Now in order to partake in the holiday I wanted to do my own little twist and since I’m all about making things happen in an effortless fashion I wanted to come up with an easy way to celebrate and eat a delicious donut.
I decided to put together a DIY donut decorating kit so that you could make your own custom donuts at home.
Here is what you need:
Naked donuts! Simply go to your local Dunkin Donuts and ask for plain donuts. I didn’t want cake donuts which they already sell. So, I asked them put aside some yeast donuts for me before they frosted them in the morning.
Then pick out some goodies that you would like to decorate your donuts with. I decided to go with mini M&M’s, crushed pretzels, and my favorite breakfast cereal. You can use whatever you like!
Now it’s time to make the frosting. You will need powdered sugar and milk. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar to a bowl and then start by adding 3 tablespoons of milk and continue adding milk slowly until it is the consistently you like.
In order to make a chocolate version of the frosting simply melt some chocolate chips and stir it into the frosting mixture.
You can also go bold and add color to your frosting mixture. I even marbleized one batch of frosting and got a cool effect with it.
Simply dunk your naked donut once your frosting is done.
I had a blast decorating all of my donuts! It’s such a fun project and any easy little kit you bring to someone’s home as desserts or simply have at home as an activities for your kids.
Ah! So yum!
The boys were excited about this photo shoot and went town on the donuts the second I put down my camera.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
This is such a fun idea and I can’t wait to try this with my god-daughter and niece.
YUM! what a fun idea!
