This weekend my baby sister turned 30! She is always one to joke about my old age! So, it was nice to welcome her into her 30’s and have her in my age group now. 30 is a momentous birthday and we decided that it needed to be celebrated in style! Along with my mom and sister, Ximena, we hatched a little surprise garden fiesta party! Daniela had recently traveled to Mexico City and fell in love with the color and all of the Frieda Kahlo so, we knew we needed some bright and festive and perhaps a floral crown or two!
Here is what the birthday girl got surprised with!
I love this face! She was so confused! She had a little birthday get together at a bar the next before and we were all there so she was super surprised to see this whole set up and her close friends and family again.
Let’s take a peek at what she saw. We were lucky enough to be able to use my sister’s newly finished outdoor courtyard. They had a pretty pergola and I knew that paper lanterns would be really budget friendly and help give me a big pop of color and make the whole space party ready!
One of my favorite sources for table linens is Leilani Wholesale. They have amazing price points. I’m always able to pick up cloth tablecloths for parties and they always have the ones that drop down to the floor!
I wanted a nod to the garden/picnic aspect of the party so, I went with blue gingham melamine plates! I already had the plates from Asher’s Baptism so, it was nice to get to use them again. I also got to reuse the Sip Sip Hooray champagne classes I used for Ximena’s bridal shower!
A pop of pink with cloth napkins.
I wanted some orange cutlery and I was happy to stumble upon these cute faux silverware ones.
I also set up a little table with some chips, extra cups, napkins, etc and a fun floral centerpiece! If my sister was an animal she would totally be an owl so, I had to use my owl as a nod to her!
Blankets in case any of our little guests wants to lay down in the grassy areas of the courtyard.
Garden party straws and drink umbrellas were picked up at Terrain.
Now a couple of weeks ago I tested out making real floral crowns, but with so much going on in party prep I decided to just pick up a boho faux floral crown on etsy. This way she can keep it forever!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
