For the past couple of weeks okay let’s be honest it’s probably been a couple of months now I have promised my mom that would work on fixing one of the bedrooms in her house. Years ago I designed it for my sister. This was right when I first started decorating professionally and didn’t even have a DSLR for my blog photos.
The room has worked pretty nicely for the past 6 plus years, but my sister moved out and took some things, let some of the older things and it now needs a refresh. So to keep me honest with my promise to my mom to give it a new look I decided to take part in Linda from Calling it Home’sOne Room Challenge linking event. It will go on for 6 weeks and take place on Thursdays.
Here is my starting point:
The bed now has some ornate yet neutral bedding that was gifted to my mom and she didn’t know what to do for it so on it went. First then I want to do is strip the bed! I also think a DIY headboard is in order.
The desk/vanity is now gone so we just have a floating mirror and a giant elephant that my sister decided should live on L.I. instead of the Upper West Side.
The wall opposite the TV never got much love. That dresser is original from the house. When we first moved in the previous home owners left their teen daughters bedroom set complete green shag carpeting. We kept the dresser and it’s been painted numerous times. I think it’s time to kick it to the curb.
The windows will also need a re-vamp with new window treatments and styling.
I really have no idea what direction I’m going to in so we will see what sort of magic I can make happen in the next 5 weeks. I really don’t to have to paint so we will be staying with the blue/green paint color.
I’m leaning towards working with a navy, white and pink color story like this beautiful space designed by Caitlin Wilson:
Are you taking part in the challenge? Let me know in the comments. I would love to follow along on your adventure!

ON THE BLOG
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
Love it, Pinky will love her new digs!
LOVE the colour palette your planning! Looking forward to following along!
