You all know I love a good fabric. It’s my favorite part of designing any space. They really help get my inspiration flowing and I love perfecting the mix of patterns for a space. I was once watching an episode of Sarah’s House and she was talking about how most of her rooms have 20 different fabrics!!! I always think about that when I’m designing and I aim to mix a high amount of fabrics as well. I always add contrasting fabric for pipping or banding on curtains, etc. Little details to inject new color or pattern with fabric.
While I love fabric it’s sometimes hard to convince a person that a $200 yard fabric is a must. You don’t want to know the look on Jon’s face when I actually told him how much the custom made pillows on our sofa actually retailed for. Luckily the majority of my clients understand how important a good fabric is and if we can’t swing it for window treatments we will at least use the fancy fabric for a pillow. I always hunt for amazing deals as well and I have to share this new source!
A couple of weeks ago I was searching for a look for less option for Kate Spade’s Owlish. I wasn’t able to find a good look for less option, but I did find the exact Kravet fabric being sold under another fabric mill’s name!!!!!!! The Kravet Kate Spade Owlish fabric retails for $249 and it’s on sale currently at Calico for $104 a yard. The fabric I found was called Strix and retails for $46 a yard!!!! Crazy, right!!!! It’s not a look for less option, but literally the same exact fabric/pattern.
It looks like everything under the fabric mill name, Portfolio Textiles is actually also Kravet!
I placed an order from the site and received it this past week. Fabric was in perfect condition and identical to my swatch from Kravet. Also if you are a designer you can sign up for a to the trade membership and get even more of a discounted price!
Oh my goodness, what great finds!!! Thank you so much for sharing…at these prices maybe I can afford to break out of my comfort zone with some fun pillows or curtains. 🙂

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]

The website states that you can get samples for $1 & the sample size is 1 yard. Is that correct? And can folks that aren’t designers order?
