I know I say this about so many features on the blog, but I think coming up with Pattern Play round ups to show people a little bit of my process and how I mix and match fabrics. It’s one of the things I’m known for and something I love to do. As you know I’m not afraid of a little or let’s face it a lot of color. With this pattern play I’m going to play around with turquoise and fuchsia as my main color points.
My main inspiration was the large scale floral called Avondale Floral in Meadow by Schumacher. It is a modern take on floral chintz where the fabric has a little sheen, but the colors are bold and modern! It would look amazing in nursery, but also stunning in a living room or dining room setting. I would love to see this in drapes.
A small pattern is always nice to throw into the mix when you are dealing with such a large scale floral. One of my favorite is Gigi embroidery by Schumacher. It adds a nice texture and would be nice as a seat cushion in a dining room or pillows with a pretty pink flat welt piping.
If you really close up on the floral fabric then you will see that among the fuchsia there is also a little bit of a berry purple. Why not bring that into play. It’s a little unexpected, because you don’t see it right away, but it totally works when it’s all together. I like to mix up the scale of patterns so I would go with something larger than the small embroidered fabric. Dyer by Kravet is the perfect shade of purple and pattern scale.
A solid is always a must and in this case I say it’s best to go bold with Shocking Pink by Duralee! It’s insanely good! The best shade of pink and a good amount of texture because it’s a linen.
Love this pattern play because it’s a happy mix of preppy happiness with solid traditional bones! Put together it’s a super chic fabric mix.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
