Back to School Finds that Organize Your Office Space!
This blog post is written in partnership with and sponsored by Big Lots.
I’m no where near wanting summer to end, but the one thing that always gets me excited for Fall is Back to School time! Now I haven’t needed my own supplies in quite some time, but I have found it to be a good time for me to take stock of what’s in my office and see what I’m lacking in supplies and organization. Of course it never hurts to add a couple new decor accessories as well.
One of the first items I found was this, rustic bar cart. I thought it could serve a multi-purpose in the style. I could use it as a traditional bar set up when I hosted workshops, but I can always use it as a work station where I can sketch furniture layouts, and mix and match fabrics. I loved it’s scale and clean lines, but it wanted it to be more colorful so, out with the traditional black and in with the pink!
What I love about Big Lots is that I found everything I needed in one place. It was so nice to just zip in and out of the aisles and find storage pieces, office supplies, decor, snacks, etc all in one place! Since a bar cart doesn’t have a lot lot of storage, but empty space I needed bins to corral all of my items. These blue and white zig zag bins are the perfect size for all of my paint decks and wallpaper samples. I also found these adorable hyacinth bins with palm leaf lines! I have been using them to house fabric combo’s for current clients!
I picked up this 5 piece organizer and filled it with drafting tools, paper clips, push pins, etc. I also love having a big tray to lay out new pattern plays with fabric, paint and wallpaper.
I had a lot of luckk in the kitchen department and picked up a pretty ceramic bowl for paint chips and a white ceramic utensil organizer that I used for pens, pencils and markers.
I also found fun notebooks, folders and how could I leave behind that ceramic hash tag.
I meet with clients in my studio when we are at the stage of picking out fabrics and wallpaper. I always like having little treats for them especially because it can be a family affair with little kids that need something to distract them with. I have a vintage bar cart that I decided to make a snack station. I found glass jars and then yummy treats all at Big Lots.
I filled the jars with some of favorites including Albanese gummy bears which are so delicious and come in some of the best colors, soft peppermint poufs and Oreo’s. Again I literally just turned the corner at Big Lots and ended up in the food aisle. No need to run to multiple stores to get everything I needed.
I love a beautifully designed package, which is what drew my eye to the Boyland bottles of seltzers.
Drink them in the bottle or pour it into a pineapple tumbler, which makes me so happy!
I also zhushed up my desk area with a large calendar, Happy sign and file folders!
The last space I added fixed up was in my fabric library. Big Lots had the prettiest wire baskets with rose gold/copper colored handles and tags. The fit perfectly into my

I’m so happy with how everything turned out. I was able to get everything in one place and since Big Lots just went thru a big renovation the store was beautifully laid out, bright and perfectly organized. It was so fun to pick out some new pieces to hit the ground running in my office once school is back in season and the boys are back in school, which means my work routine goes back into order.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
I love it all! Do you mind sharing what color and type of pink paint you used on the cart? Thank you!
Thanks! I used Rustoleum High Gloss Berry Pink paint.
