One of my favorite parts of the design process with a client has to be fabric selection. I love going thru my fabric library and putting together different colors and patterns from a variety of vendors. It’s always interesting to see the mix come together especially when you are representing a variety of fabric houses. Sometimes I find that when you pick everything from the same fabric house it ends up looking like a hotel room with everything matching perfectly. My latest pattern play put together some of my favorite colors, blush, teal and citron. I loved these colors together and it could easily work in a little girls nursery, a formal living room or a master bedroom. So many options!
No. 1 My main inspiration point was this stunning fabric that looks like hand-painted flowers. I love seeing all of the brushstrokes.
No. 2 Imperial Trellis was everywhere a couple of years ago and then it got over played and so many knock offs were made. It made me get tired of the pattern for a while, but I’m back to loving it especially if it’s the real deal. Imagine curtains in this pattern!
No. 3 Another pattern that has been overplayed these years is chevron or zig zag. It’s been everywhere. Once I start seeing it pop up in big box retailers I start losing interest and then once it’s available at a dollar store type store then I’m really over it. I haven’t used it in years, but this year I started to enjoy it again especially when it’s done in a different manner like this chevron print from Brunschwig & Fils.
No. 4 The small ikat pattern brings together all of the colors from the fabric story.
No. 5 Latticely is the citron lattice fabric that has a stripe pattern to it with the placement of the lattice. I like the ivory background which gives the fabric a less busy feel to it.
No. 6 A solid is always nice to throw in the mix and it’s what I recommend for upholstery pieces. Really loving this velvet in the salmon shade. It’s super soft and the perfect neutral.
Do you have a room that needs a little personality or a sofa or bed that needs help with pillows and you are scared to pull the trigger and aren’t even sure how to order to the trade fabric and get pillows made? Contact me at camila@effortless-style.com and we can work together to get your room fixed up before December holidays. It’s too close now for Thanksgiving.
Thanks! I think pink can get a bad rap, but blush is just so pretty and very much like a neutral. A good way to test the waters with pink and see if you like it.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
What a great color combination!! Love it! Blush is really growing on me where I used to hate pink in general!
Thanks! I think pink can get a bad rap, but blush is just so pretty and very much like a neutral. A good way to test the waters with pink and see if you like it.
