I love a good tablescape. I think it’s the inner Southern woman inside of me. Please tell me I’m not the only New Yorker that subscribes to Southern Living magazine and looks up houses in Birmingham, Alabama. I truly think I was meant to live in the South. I love all of it! The tradition, the food, the charm, the monograms! All of it. In the past I have done many Thanksgiving day like a bright and colorful take on it, a more moody tablescape that was pink, plum and leopard and a farmers market tablescape where I had individual mason jars filled with flowers for guests to take home. This year it took me a while for inspiration to hit. I wanted something fresh, but I wasn’t inspired. A trip to Trader Joes where I found the prettiest lilac flowers and inspiration started to hit! I rounded up more flowers and the color story was born! This year it’s all about a lilac and orange Thanksgiving tablescape.
The lilac-colored flowers got me hooked right away. They look like something out of Dr. Seuss. The little orange flowers came next and then I picked up a bunch of creamy neutrals. I love lilac and orange together in design and it works just as nicely in tablescapes. Plus orange is a traditional Fall and Thankgiving color which makes it fit in with the theme.
First up was finding a way to make the lilac more of a focal point, which lead me to order a tablecloth in that color and give it a lot of visual weight. I like to layer when it comes to tablecloths which is why it’s always nice to add a runner of some sort and then chargers before plates. I always search my closet first when it comes to runners! This orange pashmina worked perfectly.
Instead of one massive centerpiece. I broke it into smaller centerpieces and staggered them in front of each other. Then I added greenery to the sides to extend it and oranges for pops of color. Everything from Trader Joes. I love one trip for supplies!
I also threaded some striped orange and white ribbon to add another little layer and interest to the table.
These cute little chocolate turkeys are adorable and available at Trader Joes. They added a little bit of fun and a bite of dessert for the table.
I went into my parents china cabinet to look for smaller plates and found their wedding china. I had totally forgotten they had a little bit of lilac in them and they worked perfectly on the table and have meaning behind them.
Are you ready yet to celebrate the big day? Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I get to watch the parade in the morning, which is always fun! After the parade, I’m all about the Westminster Dog Show, which the boys really love. Then get to hang out with family and eat yummy food. I’m team canned cranberries all the way. If I can get in a viewing of Love Actually or Family Stone after dinner than I’m truly a happy lady!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
