No, this isn’t a post about my bedroom, but about my office after shots where the design magic happens. Yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning my office. Not only the top of the desk, but cleaning out all the files inside and figuring out what could stay and what needed to go.
Here are the results of all my hard labor yesterday:
Close-up shot of desk area. I now have space on the desk for my drafting tools, laptop, cellphone, current design books I’m reading as well a change jar, which I’m using to save up some $$$ for a …. Ghost Chair. I’ve already broken the news to Jon.
I love that I now have everything out in the open. It use to be pain to figure out where I was going to draw up floor plans because the desk was always so cluttered, but my now my daily items are out there ready to get used.
It’s also great to have storage on the wall. The hanging organization pieces were actually purchased at Ikea in their kitchen section! The cups hold my scissors, pencils and pens. The hanging basket holds papers that need to get looked at and not forgotten. Currently it holds a folder with all our tax info, because we have an appointment tonight to get that done, paperwork for a test that needs to get run by the Water company, plus most exciting was in cleaning and going through old paperwork I realized that a furniture company owed me $275 for a delivery charge on a dining room set that had been returned! I had completely forgotten about it. So once I get that $$$ returned it will be going in my chair fund!
Here is a shot of other side of the office:
I moved the white ottoman downstairs to open more space. Then I moved the zebra x bench from downstairs to the office. I also moved the peacock feather pillow up from the living room. I love shopping around my house. I’m constantly moving items around to give rooms a quick change and see what looks best in the room.
Thanks to everyone’s great response to the color in the office and how they like it the way it is I’m going to leave it as is for now. We have a Florida room or 3 season room or screened in patio. Everyone has a different name for it. This room is slated to get heating put into it, plus new french doors and will be home to my office/design studio. Since it looks like Jon wants to make this a project for this coming summer. I’m going to hold out for now and use my design ideas for that room.
For right now I’m just going to make a couple of tweaks to get the office picture perfect for my portfolio. Audrey is going to have to leave and make room for a bigger cork board. The wall above the chair is going to house new shelves so that I can organize all my design/work papers, etc. Once that’s done I think I’ll be a happy lady.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Me like-y!
it looks great! it always feels so refreshing to get clean and organized.
Linds,
He is not really on board, but I told him all my blog friends said that since he get’s to have a bike I can get my chair. It’s going in my office so he won’t have to see it. Plus it’s practically invisible. 🙂
He didn’t resist it. So I’m just going to do it!
Everything looks fantastic!!! I love every little thing about this room!
You know what might be fun, would be to wallpaper your office. It would be so sweet, I love all the papers at absolute zero design.
It is always so rewarding to spruce, spif-up and be able to find things when order is restored.
