Over the weekend I was trying to find some sort of beautiful photography images for my Easter post. I was searching high and low and finally decided to go look on Coco and Kelley’s site, because Cassandra always has gorgeous shots. So I take a trip down her blog roll and get myself introduced to Mary Ruffle. Love at first sight. Every day she posts a new image and then you get sucked into clicking on the link where it came from and on and on it goes. You can literally spend hours on her site.
I didn’t find anything for an Easter post, but I did find something that has me geared up to do a new DIY project in my home.
Enter this image that stopped in my tracks and gave me a little giggle:
The artist behind this piece is Dallas Shaw .
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you must know that I adore horrible cheesy movies. What can I say? I see all kinds of movies, but my favorites are pretty bad and the one I’m about to write about stars….. Pauly Shore. Ok so it didn’t win an Oscar no where near that, but Bio Dome is always one of those movies that whenever it is playing on TV I must stop and watch it all.
The reason why the above print made me giggle was because those are the lyrics to Safety Dance by Men in Hats and in the movie they use the song as a torture device of sorts to try and get everyone out of the Bio Dome when they don’t want to leave.
The other thing that attracted me to the artwork with was the shade of blue/green paint used. I’m in the process of vamping my Living Room up a bit and going from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer and I think I pop of color like that would really help with my transformation. (I’ll have a more detail post on this when the transformation is complete!)
I showed my husband the idea and he is not totally there with me. He likes the idea of it, but isn’t sure if he likes the Safety Dance lyrics. I think it’s perfect the way it is and would love to recreate it on my own, but to make both parties happy today I’m going to search for other music lyrics that we both love and try to come up with a compromise. Or just bug him enough until he agrees with me!
I had even more excitement when I was traveling down my own blog roll this weekend and saw that one of my newest blog obsessions, Nuestra vida Dulce : Our Sweet Life had posted about a site that makes your handwriting into a font for your computer. I’m definitely going to use it and then make a stencil with it for my new custom artwork.
Fingers crossed that my new project goes well and looks as good as I think it will. Plus it will only cost me around $20-30 bucks.
Not too shabby.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
how awesome! I think I need it as well!
Fun idea! Go for it!
No, NO compromise on the Safety Dance lyrics – they’re hilarious, and a sure-fire conversation piece!
(You know, in case you wanted our blasted opinion 😉
LOVE it (and agree with it!! 😉
xoxo
ps- It’s also one of those things that I think you could move around!!
My mom sent me that link just last week about making my handwriting into a font. I am off to try it now! Let me know how yours turns out.
