So normally when I’m doing these featured posts I give you all a little introduction to the featured lady and all of the reasons why I love her. Today though I’m giving you a day in the life of me! So I don’t think an introduction is necessary and I don’t want to go on and on giving myself flowers. So I figured it best just to get down to the details.
Hope you enjoy it!
7:45am: alarm goes off. I ignore it and Jon get’s up to turn it off. I drift back to sleep for a couple of minutes, but then get up at 8:05am and go check my emails.
8:15am: Decide it’s now time to wake up the pups and the husband and go on a walk.
Here’s Moo still in bed with his dad. Excuse the mess behind him.
8:30am: Finally able to wake Jon up and round up the troops to go on a walk. We decide to let Bear pick our route and he just keeps making lefts so we ended up going around the block. We finally take over the walk and go for a bit longer before it starts to rain.
The pups are always super excited to go on walks. Bear especially, but he actually listened and sat down for this shot.
8:50am: Get home and make cup of my favorite tea and an English muffin with butter and jam. Hangout in kitchen while Jon makes his own breakfast. Lately Jon doesn’t have to be in the office until 10am and work is only 7 minutes away so he is here a lot longer than I’m normally use to. Ok it’s only 30 mins more, but it seems longer.
This Keurig was a free perk from my buying days and I love it!
9:15am: Head up stairs and make bed then head into office with my co-workers (moo and bear) to post on blog. Jon has other plans and would like to watch an episode of Arrested Development with him. (We just got the DVD of season 1 a couple of weeks ago and are completely hooked we are now on season 3 and totally sad that it’s the last one) I tell him that I can’t, he gets cranky and I go into the office.
10:00am: Done posting on my blog and doing a quick read of my blog roll. I could read blogs for hours, but I have lots to do today so I must go get ready.
10:15am: Okay of course I got sidetracked when one click on a blog lead to another, which lead to another, which lead to a person I want to feature on IN HER SHOES. So that meant I had to send out an email to her. Now finally I’m off to get ready.
10:30am: Done getting ready and I’m off to my first stop at the Post Office. I’m doing a distance learning program to learn all the in’s and out’s of interior design so I’m off to mail out my most recent unit’s homework assignments.
Our Post Office is really starting to show some age. Everytime I’m in there I want to re-decorate!
11:00am: After getting gas I have now made it to my second destination: LOWES. After being amazed by that wonderful bathroom transformation in the current issue of Country Living I knew I needed to purchase some items to finish up my upstairs bath. Find what I need to get in the plumbing section right away and then on my way to check-out I find curtain rods that I need to finish up my bedroom. I then get side-tracked by Martha Stewart paint swatches so I grab a couple to look over for my kitchen floor project. Of course as I’m checking out I see a lighting fixture I must have for the downstairs bath. So I go back and get it and check out again.
Here is the bathroom from Country Living that is making my heart pitter patter. It’s very similar to what I’ve already done in my bath expect my walls are black!
11:20am: I’m now at Home Depot to look at tiles! I’m working on a kitchen backsplash for a client/friend so I wanted to check out what they have. You would be surprised sometimes at what they have. We are on a tight budget and I find a couple of things that might work, but I still have some tile samples coming in from various sites online. I was also looking for myself, because I need floor tiles for the downstairs bath. Again that Country Living article came in handy and I found the floor tile I wanted. I also want to do the cut-out on the bathroom door with the privacy glass like in the magazine. I’ve wanted to do that for over a year now and I kept searching for old doors and hadn’t found one in my price range. I never even thought to do it myself with the existing door, but it is now on my Honey-do list! Jon is not very happy with this current issue of CL.
I want to go with a glass tile in the kitchen I’m currently working on, but that may be a bit too pricey. So I like the mix here of the colored tiles, only 37 cents, and the little bits of glass. We shall see…
11:40am: Arrive at Pearl Art and need to pick up some supplies. Quickly find drafting tape, H3 pencils and new erasers and off I go.
12:00pm: Back at home. Check emails and continue my search for the perfect kitchen tile.
1:00pm: Jon comes home for lunch. I ate my yummy salad and I’m actually not quite sure what Jon has. We put on HGTV for background noise and I had my current issue of US WEEKLY in my hands so let’s just say I’m not really talkative. Fence company is coming again today at 2pm so we go outside and Jon gives me instructions on what I need to tell them. They are finishing it up today by installing the gate. Jon leaves to go back to work and I get on the computer again. This time I’m researching 3-D design programs and trying to figure out which one I want to get.
My yummy salad on my favorite plates from Anthro along with my weekly guilty pleasure.
3:30pm: Fence company is still not here, but the UPS man comes by with a box full of goodies that I purchased at Anthro. Of course I head up to the bathroom and try everything on. 2 things worked, but the rest have to go back! Still no fence company. Continue my work on computer and of course get side-tracked when I figure out Jill Zarin has twitter and get lost for a little while why I read all of her tweets.
5:00pm: Fence company finally comes! Ah it’s starting to rain a little, but they get to work. Dogs are going nuts and I want to pull my hair out. They ring the backdoor at 6 to tell it’s all done. So out the back door I go and I leave it propped open so I can back it in, because it automatically locks when it shuts. Approve the job and give them final check, go to get back in the house and Bear has closed the door. Great! It’s raining and I have no cell phone and the fence guys left! Go to front door and realize Jon never locked it on his way out back to work and I can get in the house!
7:00pm: Jon gets back home from work. I’m super proud of myself that I dealt with this whole fence by myself from beginning to end. Jon comes in the house to tell me that the gate is wrong. Oh no! I totally forgot that we had ordered an 8ft and 3ft gate and they gave us 5 1/2’ and 5 ½’ !!!! Call fence company and tell them they need to come back another day to fix!
I totally thought the fence looked pretty and completely forgot that Jon wanted one larger gate and then a much smaller gate on the other side to go in and out of. Oh well.
7:15pm: Didn’t have time to make dinner today so we go out to the main strip in town and support a local business. We stop at a cute little Mexican restaurant that we’ve always said we want to try. Order way too much food and head home.
Here’s Jon in the local Mexican restaurant called Little Mexico and this is his angry face, because A. I’m snapping the picture and he knows it’s going on the blog and B. I gave the fence guys the ok, signed some sort of document, and gave them the rest of the deposit!
8:00pm: Eat yummy Mexican food while watching My Name is Earl! Finish dinner and head downstairs to the den where we settle in for Thursday TV. Of course my laptop comes with me and I end up posting on my blog.
9:30pm: Ok seriously in tears over the latest episode of The Office and really wish that A. Pam and Jim were real and B. That I was their best friend. Finally turn off laptop and enjoy 30 Rock.
10:00pm: Head up to bed, but first I take a quick shower. Then get into bed with my current issue of Better Homes and Gardens that also arrived today and watch more episodes of Arrested Development. While I’m getting ready for bed Jon installs one of my purchases from Lowes.
Yay, I love it and it was only $15 and took a couple of minutes to do!
12:00am: Ok no more Arrested Development for tonight, because I’m totally falling asleep. Lights out for me.
Here are the shoes I wore all day long, but to be honest when I’m at home I’m normally barefoot!
I’m standing on my two choices for bathroom tile. I think I’m going to go with the white and gray grout. The shoes are of course ballerina flats and I picked up for 18 euros when I was in Venice, Italy last March.
So that’s my day. Maybe full of too many details, but you all know I love the details so I tried to be exact.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
xoxo

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I love these little peeks into your life!!
I LOL’d at “he kept turning left”. Adorable little pooch.
And those flats are so Euro chic!
Oh no now I have to go and read Jill’s twitter. Sounds like you had a good day.
I heart your tile – and shoes – and the fact you have a black bathroom and pretty much you in general!
Love this! this weekly series is great, I love to see what others do during the day. Plus I love to dream about what it would be like to not have to go an actual office and be able to work from home…ahh someday!
Ok, you said Mexican and thats all it too- the BF and I are off to have dinner at a local Mexican place just because of you!! Thanks Camila!!
Have a fab weekend! xoxoxo
I am completely on the same page with LindsB… loved hearing about your day, wish I didn’t work in a real office all day, and I’m off to eat Mexican with the hubby! Have a great weekend! xo-Brooke
You are TOO cute. A) Jon is one tolerant man. George would kick my -you know what- if I had him installing x,y,z all day! Give Jon a big big kiss B) Arrested Development WAS the best show on T.V., ever, until America just didn’t get it C) love the white tile with grey grout (did you do the corrugated metal??) D) fence is looking awesome! E) your dogs are PRECIOUS! I can only imagine what your kids will look like! 🙂
xx

I love this series and was hoping you would do one about yourself. I love the gate and the pic of the hubby annoyed about the gate… too cute!
Love the white tile with gray grout. can’t wait to see!
I’m glad we got to see you in “your shoes”. Still loving this series.
great “in her shoes!!” i love the differences and similarities in everyone’s days! and may i ask what distance program your doing for the interior design? i’m really interested in doing something like that. thanks!
Fun day, (and not in high heels, thank goodness, you had me worried!)
Since you like details, make sure you go with a gray grout, not white! I like either floor, the navy and white is fun, but the all white is my no.1 choice.

So fun (and slightly reassuring) to see that I’m not the only one infatuated by jill zarins tweets (and facebook updates)!
Love the cool toilet flusher- currently redoing my powder room and I picked out an old fashioned faucet with crosses like that- the handles even say “h” and “c”!
I love us weekly, but I gotta have me my daily fix on Perez too!
I would love to see photos of your black bathroom. Are you posted in a previous post that I missed?
Oh I loved reading this! Why don’t we live closer together and then we could hang out? Your day sounds fabulous!
Love it! And yes, the office is HILARIOUS and so is 30 Rock! My two faves….Quick question for you – what is the name of the interior design class you are taking? I have been looking for one myself that I could do in my free time…. let me know chica 🙂
Hi Everyone,
So happy you all enjoyed reading about my day! I’m a bit under the weather today so it’s taking me a bit of time today to post, but I wanted to answer a couple of your questions.
I will be posting photos of my black bathroom soon so stay posted.
The design program that I’m doing was a reccomendation by a fellow blogger. Here is the info http://www.sheffield.edu.
Feel better!
Enjoyed your post and loved. I also get the husband being home longer 🙂 I have one great guy but he can hamper my progress. Love the toilet handle. I’m entering that on my iphone shopping list.
Hahahah LOVe your tile choice!! Too funny because I think we’re going with the same one in a bathroom of ours!
xoxo
