  2. Michelle says:

oh dear; dare I say…my mother! Bed in a bag lady.

  3. Lauren Jade says:

lol, that picture is a little sickening, thats more like a room in a bag…Good luck !

  4. LindsB says:

hahahah, im dying laughing- it sounds like my mother! Actually she is not that bad in that not EVERYTHING has to match, but she certainly loves matchy-matchy and it drives me up a wall.

I cant wait to see the pretty peach and blue room Camila 🙂

  5. TheBeautyFile says:

omg omg omg…this is where laura ashley went to die!!!!

  6. Kristin says:

sadly my mom is very matchy matchy. i try to get her to stop, but she's all about bed in a bag, with the matching wall border, lamp shades and picture frames. seriously… ick.

  7. mrosev14 says:

I love not being matchy matchy. I used to think that it was a good idea, but I've gotten out of that…thank goodness.

That room looks like a comforter barfed everywhere!

I hope you have fun decorating with your Cousin.

  8. down and out chic says:

yikes, matching is way overrated! good luck.

  9. Love Where You Live says:

Yes, my mother is into matchy-match. She loves blue — especially those kind of powder shades. Blue everything. One day she comes and asks for help in doing "something different." Not wanting to push my tastes on to her, I get a bunch of paint swatches — blue is included — and tell her to tell me what she likes. it was a stack, with some different options pulled out for new consideration! She picked blue. cheers -s

  10. urbansardines says:

that is the best title ever!!!! Yes, the matchy matchy with the ruffle-ruffle is waaay too much!

  11. Jessica Morris says:

I have a few older relatives that WERE that way! Not with colors, but with themes! One had a cow themed kitchen and there were cows EVERYWHERE. E.V.E.R.Y.S.I.N.G.L.E item was a cow. Cow soap dispenser, cow hot pad, cow cookie bowl, etc.
When I was 8 it was pretty much the coolest kitchen in the world 🙂
Now I can't even imagine living with that!

  12. shi(f)t says:

    holy tons of floral…

    goodluck!

  13. MyLittleHappyPlace says:

    Ooooh…tough road, this one!

I've been helping my aunt redo her guest bath, and she's been very into the hardware matching the vanity light, matching the shower curtain rod – I explained we don't have to be so strict in our coordination – but…in the end, it's her bath, so like you say – I just breathe.

    Good Luck w/ your SIL's apt! 🙂

  14. Maria Killam says:

That is so funny! Peach and blue! Love it 🙂

  15. Haven and Home says:

Oh I can't wait to hear how it went!!!!

  16. writing4612 says:

I also know some people like that. It's much more personal and fun to mix it up!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]

new-farrow-and-ball-paint-color-picks-for-my-house

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
