  1. Blair says:

It looks AH-MAZING! Love the bench and I adore the way the gold looks!

  2. Deliciously Organized says:

I LOVE the bench!!!!! I actually really like the gold and would keep it that way. The bench up against that seat is gorgeous! I've said it before…you are so talented and I love what you are doing with this space! -carlee

  3. Jackie says:

Oh I just love it! Lookin good Camila!

  4. Nicole says:

Love the bench! I, too, like the gold, but if you wanted to change the color, and I'm no designer, I would probably go with a slightly darker color, maybe something close to one of the dark colors in the fabric on your sofa.

  5. heather says:

If it were mine, I'd go with a contrasting color in the sofa, like the green or blue or pink, to add some whimsy!

And the good thing about spray paint is that if you hate it…change it!

  6. Flavia @ Estilo Home says:

That bench is amazing! The space is really coming together. I actually really like the gold as it is now.

  7. inthetweeds says:

Oooh I love how it turned out!!! So fun! I think I'd either leave it gold or paint it white so it blends in but also pops on the wood floors.

  8. lupismore says:

i'm not a big fan of gold, especially in furniture, but this bench looks FAB! just as it is i say don't change anything

  9. LindsB says:

LOVE the bench with the sofa and my vote is for ORANGE, ORANGE, ORANGE…did you get that?

Love the curtains too- I cant wait to see more.

I hope your trip back to the thrift store this morning was successful!

  10. Sweet Nothings says:

i DIE. over that bench. ugh. want to send it to LA and give it to me?? thanks.

  11. Melissa says:

I think gold as well. Organge would make it look too cutsey I think? I cant wait to see a full reveal of the room

  12. journeychic says:

The bench is adorable – your fabric and trim choices are spot-on to coordinate with the fabulous couch. I think that painting the base white or leaving it gold would be the best choice. More orange may be a bit too much since the couch is so colorful.

I gave you an award on my blog today! Hope you stop by to check it out!

  13. bluehydrangea says:

The room is fabulous!!! I am on a curtain frenzy so I can't wait to hear more details!! I also love the bench gold. Orange would be too matchy.

  14. A Spoonful of Dish says:

So adorable. Love the sofa and the bench is a fab print. I would say white for the bench legs. I was thinking orange but felt it might stand out too much.
Good luck, what a great transformation thus far.

  15. other-option says:

Love the gold tone of the bench and I would keep it. Would you mind sharing the details of the fabric on the bench, please? Thanks!
    – Danielle

  16. my favorite and my best says:

    gold please. thank you.

  17. vicki archer says:

I adore this bench…it is perfect, xv.

  18. Collins says:

oh my gosh. if i knew where you lived i might break in and steal it. 😉 i love it!

  19. Ms. Bright says:

AH!!!! I knew we would be friends!
    Clueless is still a fave!

Absolutely LOVE the loveseat and of course, the new cushion looks fantastic with it! Totally would do a deep orange. What a pop, just like the piping.

    Can't wait to see more!

  20. 6p00e54fe9de5c8833 says:

Your office is looking good! Love that love seat! I'd paint the bench frame an off-whitish color that matches back to the lighter color in the fabric. This will really allow the orange welting to pop. Hope my two cents helps!

  21. Laura Casey Interiors says:

Definitely my vote is to keep it gold, esp. if it is from the 1920's. Soon it will be an antique and you never want to touch them!

  22. DesignBabylon says:

I would keep the gold, but if you are dead-set on painting the base go orange! It's one of my favorite colors and it will totally pop in front of your loveseat!

    LOVE the blog, btw 🙂

  23. Carolyn says:

before reading these posts, i thought gold too. gives a touch old old school class and sass. 🙂

  24. The Consummate Hostess says:

Goor work thus far! I love what you have done and the curtains will create an intimate and cozy space for clients. Can't wait to see more pictures.

  25. Design Esquire says:

    LOVE the bench.

  26. X says:

HELLO that quote is from Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (starring the one and only SJP back in the day!) Love that movie and love the destined life long friendship .. aka sisterhood!

I LOVE how the bench turned out and would keep the gold (like I told you before!)! I think it looks great! XOXO

  27. Miss Wendy says:

I love the bench and the love seat. I vote for keeping it gold, but it would pop if painted in one of the darker colors in the love seat fabric.

  28. Ashley says:

If you want to paint it orange, paint it orange. I think it would look fantastic. And if you don't like it, paint it white. That is the glorious thing about spray paint. It is so quick, easy, and cheap you can just do it again if you aren't happy!

  29. Elena says:

I might just paint it white. Good job so far!

  30. vanessa says:

Every thing looks great! I used that same fabric to back my living room pillows. I think the metal would look great a blue color or a matte gold.

  31. Alicia B. Designs says:

I, like everyone else, love the gold finish!

Descisions are the worst is from THE BEST MOVIE EVER Girls just Want to Have fun. I really have to watch that again (for the 300th time)

  32. Sarah - La Jeune Marie says:

I say keep it gold – I like the "bling"!

Ps. Come help me at my blog! I totally need you eye! (See today's post)

  33. nestegg says:

Girls just wanna have fun!!! and actually- Clueless too?-sad that I know that.
Keep it gold! Maybe add a contrast orange welt around the base- before the gold- to tie it together!
    Looks great!!!

  34. MyLittleHappyPlace says:

I absolutely ADORE the fabric on the ottoman – and the orange trim was brilliant! I say GO FOR IT on painting the metal base orange – if not, go navy!

  35. Heather says:

It's lovely! I like the gold bottom.

  36. fromtherightbank.com says:

Eeeeeeeeeek! That sofa totally looks like Josef Frank!!! Where did you find the fabric?? I love it, I want it! And your bench is adorable. I vote for orange. It'll look perfect with that piping.

  37. pve design says:

I like the gold… but if you were to paint it, I would say white….or orange would look great!

  38. Courtney says:

    LOVEEEEEEE THE BENCH!!!!

  39. abby jenkins says:

I'd go for orange. Why not? Sunny. Fun. Fresh.

  40. Christine says:

Orange huh? You're brave girl. I think I would go with white or ivory or just leave as is which is kind of cool in a vintage sort of way.

  41. Re:Fresh Design Studio says:

I surprised myself by really liking the gold. Otherwise I would paint it white. I haven't seen the rest of your room yet, but would orange be too much?

  42. Caitlin says:

I can't tell you how much I love the contrast welting and buttons. I bought that same geometric fabric at joanns in the pink but totally overlooked the neutral. Now I want to totally rethink neutral fabrics since I saw how you gave it life.

    Good job my dear!

  43. Blueprint Bliss says:

Camila- It looks fantastic. Love the fabric on the bench and I prefer the gold!

  44. Ms. Bright says:

That's right, it's in "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", too!!! I love that flick, also. But I always think about Cher standing in front of her closet saying that line…bc I do it all the time!

  45. Katherine @ Grass Stains says:

I might be in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the gold. I think the orange (maybe a darker pumpkin shade?) would look really nifty. Love it so far!

  46. Dallas says:

Here's my vote: Either paint the base orange or go for fushia and bring out the other color in the sofa. Fushia would rock!

"Girls Just Want to Have Fun!" but of course 🙂

  47. Honeygo Beasley says:

Love it! The bench reminds me of my coffee table – I have a glass top, but your blog post inspired me to consider switching it out with a big cushion like that!

  48. Oonafey says:

Is Clueless an old movie? Does that mean we are all getting old, as well? LOL. Love the bench with the loveseat, I too prefer the gold frame.

  49. Lauren says:

love it!!! the fabrics are awesome!!!!! i like the gold but think either of the options would work too!

  50. madamesoleil says:

The loveseat and bench fabric look amazing together. So chic! I think you should go with your instinct and do the orange!

  51. Jro says:

you should paint it an antique white. let the sofa be the focal point. painting the bench orange i think will be too much. great job!

  52. Haven and Home says:

Love the bench!!! Maybe it is because it is Saturday morning but my brain is not coming up with a color. What is wrong with me? I am liking the gold!

  53. Megan @ Megity's Handmade says:

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!! My fav movie of all time! I bought it for myself last year.

I'm leaning towards the gold or even doing some sort of metallic rub on it but if you really want to paint it, go orange. Why not go bold??

  54. Christen says:

oh my god oh my god oh my god. A.ma.zing. Will you come redo my whole apartment? It needs your magic touch!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]

new-farrow-and-ball-paint-color-picks-for-my-house

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details.
