Sounds like a great weekend! Ours was pretty fun too. We took the kid to cloudy with a chance of meatballs; then to the San Francisco kite festival on Saturday. Sunday my husband gave me the entire day off to read and nap and do whatever I want. Too bad monday's here all ready.

  5. Scientific Housewife says:

You're so lucky you have flea markets like that. We have them, ours are just a little ghetto and don't have near as much cool stuff. Sounds like a great weekend!

What a great weekend!!! The city I live in has no lakes nearby…so no canoeing….as for the flea market thing…I'm not sure if we even have one here either…but I'm definitely going to look into it after seeing all the treasures that you found!

I'm going to need a fab designer.

  18. Chic Coles (Cole Design) says:

What a good wife you are! I love canoeing, but it does get tiring after a while with all of that paddling. I would LOVE to go to the Brooklyn Flea market, is there a specific season they run it? I won't be back up north until Christmas and i'm assuming they will not be out in the cold!

  19. Yansy says:

It sounds like you had a fabulous weekend! I nominated you for an Honest Scrap Award. Come by my page to get the details.

Sounds like a fun weekend! And I love those metal trays/baskets… I would have wanted all of them!

  24. Michelle (Three Men and a Lady) says:

Now that looks like a perfect outing to me! I'm jealous. What kind of prices are these people asking for their amazing furniture? Would love to know!

  25. journeychic says:

This gave me a good chuckle. I've always got projects lined up for my husband. I'll tell him where to hang the picture or drill the hole, but usually have him do it! Good for you for giving him some time off. My man escapes to the golf course. 🙂

  26. Rachel says:

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!! I'm always so jealous of people who have access to such amazing flea markets! Most of the stuff I run into is truly junk.

By the way, the couch looks like it's covered with cowhide, and that a few places have rubbed off (which is normal for wear). It's very common, actually. And 99.9% of furry-hide things (like rugs, upholstery, even zebra rugs!) are cow hides that are dyed or stenciled to look however they are supposed to look.

  27. abby jenkins says:

In a perfect world, I would have that fur (cowhide?) sofa and that tufted ottoman in my new waterfront house with greenhouse and barn! What a delightful day you had. Made me smile.

  28. Christen says:

No worries, we all have our moments 😉

  29. Rita says:

I had to go back to the vintage luggage and the 'house for sale' part twice. Glad you had fun. Thanks for sharing.

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

new-farrow-and-ball-paint-color-picks-for-my-house

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
