Yesterday was a day packed full of work. Since I’m leaving on vacation this coming Friday I’ve been busy making sure all my client work is under control. I worked till around 9pm last night, but my saving grace was knowing that when I finished I could rip open my latest issue of Southern Living.
Now my family thinks it’s pretty funny that I subscribe to Southern Living magazine. Mainly because I don’t live in the South nor have a ever and I probably will never get to, but a girl can dream right?
I love the mix of traditional and modern rooms with a touch cottage that are showcased in Southern Living that just exude charm.
I always flip through the first time just looking at the images and then go back to read the articles. Yesterday though some of the images started looking vaguely familiar. As I kept looking at pictures of this home I started to realize that I knew who the designer was and she was a friend!
Take a peek and see if you can figure out who it is?
Hint #1: This home is in Florida, which is also home to this designer.
Hint #2: Plumbing fixtures make her heart go pitter-patter.
Hint # 3: She has two furry little co-workers.
Hint #4: She just welcomed a sweet baby girl into this world.
Hint #5: Not only does she design fabulous rooms, but she also blogs!
Hint #6: She has a twin sister that also blogs!
I’m certain that by now you must know that it is none other than Erika of Urban Grace!
A big Congrats to you Erika! A very well-deserved feature! I can’t wait to see you work in many many more magazines!
I didn't guess who it was, but I am going to pick up that issue right away.
Love the way you described Southern Living. I always look at their house plans online…and I live in the NW. Perhaps I'm a Southern girl at heart? I do love bourbon and grits!
I saw someone comment on the feature on her FB page, and it kills me that I don't get Southern Living down here – will have to wait 'til I can snag my mother's copy! She certainly deserves the featured spot!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
