So excited to share this next home with you. When Irene emailed me I wasn’t just happy with her lovely home pictures, but in love with her blog as well. It was a win, win situation for me.
This is Irene and her hubby’s Evan’s first home. With a big chunk of money going towards a down payment they have been decorating their home on a budget. Irene hasn’t let that prevent her from decorating a home that is not only fun, but a reflection of them as a couple.
Let’s take a peek into her home :
I’ve been itching to paint my black (originally white) front door a fun color. Look at what the yummy blue Irene picked.
Highlights:
– Peek of the striped shade that was a simple white roller shade that Irene painted stripes on.
-Cool moroccan lanterns that were a left over from her sister’s wedding.
Moving along we can see a peek into Irene’s home office:
Highlights:
-Andy Warhol look-alike that Irene found in the trash and fixed up with a new frame.
-A little animal touch (a girl after my own heart) from Cost Plus World Market.
-Cool light pendant was only $45 from a local shop.
Desk area:
Highlights:
-The desk originally had faux wood on the backside. Irene fixed it with some black and white graphic wrapping paper!
-Glossy black fireplace.
-Wood paneling was giving a coat of white to brighten up the space.
-The little owl by the fireplace was a $20 find from Homegoods.
Living Room:
Highlights:
-Pink wing back was a thrift store find that was only $45!
-Crazy chair is actually a patio furniture from Pier 1!
-Cool faux ostrich table was a splurge from a local shop on sale for $700.
* Irene couldn’t stop thinking about that table for 2 months so made a great decision in picking it up. Yes, it was expensive, but it’s something she will always love and can used in a favorite color schemes throughout the years.
Close up of groovy lamp that was a flea market find for $40.
Highlights:
-Greek key end table. Reminds me of this bargain one.
Dining Room:
Highlights:
-Sunburst mirror wall. Irene picked them at a local shop and with the help of ebay.
-Artwork was painted by hubby’s great aunt. Love that it has history behind it.
Family Room:
Highlights:
-Has to be that pop of blue on the wall.
Accent chair in room:
Highlights:
-All of it!
-Yellow chair was a flea market find. Irene bought two for $100.
-Garden stool from Homegoods
-Rug from IKEA
Master Bedroom:
Highlights:
-Yummy brown paint color
-Cane pillows
-Orange wicker chair in corner
-More artwork from hubby’s great aunt.
Front view of bed:
Highlights:
-Amazing lattice lamps from Homegoods. Totally love these. I never saw them at my Homegoods.
They kinda remind me of these beauties from Jill Rosenwald:
Dressers with more knick knacks from Homegoods:
Lastly Irene gave us a little peek at her bookcase:
Highlights:
-Mid-century candlestick holders way up top are from a flea market.
-Vintage books from hubby’s grandfather.
-Horse head book ends from flea market.
A big thanks to Irene & Evan for letting us peek into their home. A loved the mix of flea market, vintage and a whole bunch of Home Goods. It produced quite the charming home.
I’m running low on open house tours so make sure you all start snapping pics of your home and sharing them with us!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
what a gorgeous house, and full of one-of-a-kind pieces and personal touches – favourite re-do is definitely the desk..

Just beautiful. What a great looking home!
I love what she has done mixing and matching items of all different price points – I have her bedroom lamps, one on my desk at work!!
What a great idea painting stripes on the roller! Will try that.

Love the front door. I wish my neighborhood association would allow me to do something fun like that.
I'm beyond touched that you featured our home. Thank you so much. It was a lovely surprise to wake up to this morning.
I saw those trellis lamps at my HomeGoods – bought one, couldn't believe how cute and cheap they were!
this is a really unique approach to home design. your colors are not those that i would generally think to use in my house but after seeing the execution i might have to incorporate some new ideas!
What a beautiful house. Can my dog come over and play?
LOVE this house! Super, super cute! Love that she spent big on pieces that she really loved, but hunted and gathered 🙂 from many different places for some steals of the century.
love that punchy front door color!
Um…adorable! They did a great job! It has personality…it looks gorgeous and COZY!
