In planning our parents vow renewal/30th wedding anniversary bash we (my sisters & me) knew that after the catering hall one of the most expensive things would be the flowers.
We decided to go with navy blue, turquoise blue and yellow color palette. So we knew we need to incorporate some of those fun shades into the table setting.
We added our color with the menu’s and favor boxes and for the centerpieces I not only got to add more blue and yellow, but stripes as well! You all know I love a good stripe so I was thrilled with how they came out.
Getting the flowers were easy. Since we were on a budget I went to a flower wholesaler. Since I have a resale license it was no problem to walk right in and pick out what I wanted. Due to the upcoming holiday weekend there wasn’t a lot to pick from, but those mums fit the bill perfectly.
They were neutral, added an element of texture and so full and massive that we knew we would 9 or 10 in piece centerpiece would make an impact! The best part….they were only $1 a stem.
Finding a home for them was exhausting. I thought it would be simple to find a square glass vase on a budget, but it was impossible.
Instead I found these:
Step 2: Wrap around fabric and make a hem with the glue gun. This helps you get a smooth seam and no frayed fabric.
Step 3: Flip box over:
And glue down flaps like you were wrapping a present:
Step 4: Flip it back over and glue down the seams in the top of the box:
Voila you are all done!
I had purchased two different colored fabric so I made bands to wrap around the boxes in the other color.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

I think you mean (my sisters & me) Me always goes last. English 101
These are cute! Next time you could look into using blumeboxes. They're really cute and don't cost nearly as much as a glass vase – and they're eco-friendly! http://www.blumebox.com/index.shtml
So happy everyone likes them. Thanks guys!!! xo C
Thanks for the correction Anon. I do a million and one things at a time. It is after all a one women show around here with the blog and my design biz and I don't always have time to proof read something before I post.
Thanks for the tip on Blume box, but they didn't have the exact size I wanted and/or pattern. So going the DIY route was the best way for me to get what I wanted.
I will have to remember them for future projects. They are really cute!
Looks awesome! Great minds think alike – check my blog out today on centerpieces!
