Weekend Recap: Lion & Tigers & Jewels!

  1. annabelvita says:

I moved house (moved in with my boyfriend!), unpacked 97.5 per cent of my clothes and baked a ginger cake.
Love the drawer organisation idea – might try that. Does it move much when you open and close? (Have you fixed them in in any way?)

  2. Scientific Housewife says:

Great idea, it looks so organized now!

  3. Ms. Bright says:

Bass Pro Shop?? It's kinda neat, huh?

And I love the organization! I did something similar with mine about a month ago…I love being able to see what I have. Plus, it's fun to look at…like going shopping in your own house!

  4. A Flair for Vintage Decor says:

Love how organized it is…doesn't it feel so much better to have it all in place! Take care, Caroline

  5. Just Like Any Other Girl, Only More So says:

I love the white dishes even better than the Martha china!! Such a good idea! Love me some Christmas tree shop too!

  6. L.Duncan@Home23DuncanBoys says:

OMG, what a great idea! I'm so going to copy you! what did I scratch off my list? Writing my blog posts for the week! I've been MIA for about 2 weeks now!

  7. Jenny says:

I love this idea and I've been looking for a way to store and organize my jewelry! Can't wait to pick up some of these dishes and try it out!

  8. Katie @ Noodle and Boof says:

I have bowls from Anthro atop my vanity. Love it!

that looks FABULOUS. god I miss christmas tree shoppes.

  10. Christine says:

I've been meaning to do the Martha style for a while now too! But yours looks so organized I think I may like your way better! Thanks for sharing!

  11. Babs Blog says:

This turned out lovely! I always think that when something is beautiful AND organized there is more incentive to keep things organized long-term. You have inspired me to conquer the unruly cabinets in my bathroom now! 🙂
Glad you had a great weekend!

  12. Alcira Molina-Ali says:

  13. Mrs. Chic says:

looks so cute love the little dishes in your drawer perfect way to see all your earings etc in such a pretty way!

  14. Debbie says:

I like your version better than Martha's! The focus is on your jewelry, not the cups. And I bet it's more functional

  15. Laurie Jones says:

I actually like the white dishes instead of the tea cups, the jewelry seems like its the showcase and doesn't compete with the pretty patterns of the teacup! You made me put on my list go to the Christmas Shoppe this week, I keep meaning to go there! I finished 2 side tables this weekend http://housetoyourhome.com/2010/10/25/another-design-rule-to-follow-never-take-yourself-too-seriously/. Hope you have a great week!

  16. Kathysue says:

  19. Amy R. says:

Thanks for posting such an affordable and doable drawer organization tip. I would like to have something like this in my closet. Nice rack btw…I mean the one holding your cooler:)

    Amy R.

  20. christine {bijouandboheme} says:

Your jewelery drawer looks amazing! The white really lets the colours of the jewels pop- so pretty! I am definitely going to keep this in the inpsiration pile for when/if I ever get that organzied:)
I accomplished one of my to-dos this weekend as well, which feels great. After years of not knowing what to use for curtains in my master, I finally got down to it and created a shear wall of curtains, which covers 21' of wallspace-I posted pictures of it on my blog and am quite happy with it- only took two days:( but worth it in the end.

  21. Michaela says:

What a cute project. I agree, they make your jewelry pop! This weekend I went to a fun event for my interior design department at Seattle Pacific University. We went to an amazing architectural firm in down town Seattle and networked with other designers. Then I went shopping at Nordstrom…always fun!! (:

  30. modern jane says:

I think that drawer looks awesome! I have always loved the martha idea but they look great in the white! I just may have to be a copycat:)

  31. Bellwether says:

Hi! I've been quietly "lurking" for ages now but I had to comment after this post – I LOVE this project! I like your version so much better than Martha's (and I do love me some Martha) because (as a number of other commenters have already said) it DOES showcase the jewelry better than a mish-mash of cups. Plus, it somehow reminds me of a fancy boutique I've been to (not sure exactly which one) where they display the jewelry like this – talk about shopping your own closet every time you get dressed! what fun!

  32. Evie says:

I have that same M. Stew picture/article bookmarked too! Like how you got the look for less!

  33. Lindsey says:

i love the white bowl idea. i'm gonna try that, ur jewelry looks so good. like its in its own little boutique.

  34. Sarah says:

what a cleaver idea. my vanity needs this makeover.
    thanks.

Brilliant idea! I LOVE it!! It makes each piece look so beautiful.
I finally got around to cleaning out my pantry this weekend…I threw a way 2 trash bags of expired food…now it looks empty 🙂

  36. Erica @ Erica's Inspirations says:

Oh…if you don't mind, I would like to share this brilliant idea of yours on my blog! 🙂

  37. Loretta Fontaine (APPLESandRUBIES) says:

Camila– Love this idea! So simple and looks just stunning!

This weekend we boarded up the hole in the living wall where we knocked down our fireplace. Now just waiting for the contractor to come and make a bigger hole!
    Loretta

  38. Bailey@ peppermintbliss says:

Oh you have no idea. Pete and I took every last dish and plate and applience out of our butlers pantry and reorganized replete with label maker action…It was very old and very married and honestly pretty lovely!

  39. simplygrove says:

I LOVE this idea!!!!! I want to do it now!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]

new-farrow-and-ball-paint-color-picks-for-my-house

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]

mock-up-of-kitchen-design

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
