I love a room with fresh flowers. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, but a touch of flowers brightens up a room and makes me smile.
I try to never spend more than $5 or $10 dollars on a bunch so most times my flowers are coming from my supermarket or deli. Instead of just sticking them into a plain vase in a haphazard manor I like using pieces from my milk glass collection.
Here is an easy arrangement that anyone could do with a simple bowl.
Step 1: Get our your supplies. Use any bowl you may have it doesn’t have to be milk glass. Floral foam is a must. It helps hold the flowers into place and I find that it helps my flowers last longer. I purchased that pack at Michaels for $6. It goes a long way.
Step 2: Using a kitchen knife cut your foam and place it in the bowl.
Step 3: Cover foam with water.
Step 4: Start cutting down the flowers. I cut them down one at a time. Due to the shape of the bowl and the foam each flower is going to be a slightly different size. I just play around with it until I get the right shape.
Step 5: Enjoy!
That arrangement took about 10 mins. I used it as a table centerpiece during my Mom’s birthday brunch. My mom loves flowers so she was very happy to see some cheerful blooms on the table.
This type of arrangement can be done with any type of flower. Normally I like doing the same flower like roses or even carnations and getting a big consistent colored pouf!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
