I love Jonathan Adler and all of his happy chic rooms! What makes me love him even more is his love of orange! Now orange might not be everyone’s favorite hue, but I think we can all agree that injecting a little dose of it can add a little happy to any space.
1.We all love to fill our bookcases and stack our coffee tables with books that we not only love to read, but are pretty to look at. Enter your little dose of orange with Mr. Alder’s new book: Happy Chic
2. Brightly colored ornate frames are all the rage. Pick up a set here or scour your local thrift store for old frames and spray away in your favorite citrus color.
3. Candles make for great hostess gifts during the holiday season. They are always something I never buy for myself, but love getting as a gift. Plus the packaging is beyond chic!
4. If you are feeling a little more daring with your dose of orange then paint is the way to go. Biggest impact for the lowest buck. My favorite shade is Baja Orange by Ralph Lauren. While RH is no longer sold at home improvement stores it is still available via their showrooms.
5. Roberta Roller Rabbit is know for their designer threads, but surprisingly their toss pillows are very budget friendly. You can pick one up for$40
6. Orange also goes great with many other shades. Here it is paired with greens, yellows and brown. This fabric is available in a set of 16″ pillows for $45
7. One of my very first blog related purchases was a LOVE print by Made By Girl. I picked mine up in lavender, but I’m now lusting after it in tangerine.
8. Trays are a great catch all for keys, coins, jewelry, etc. Orange plus white trim equals a happy Camila.
I saw your zebra steps over at apples and rubies. They are the bomb.com. Also, your PVE header is divine!! Orange is my favorite color. I’ve had it in every house in a big way, so all the new chat about orange tickles me. Have you seen Colour Me Happy. Maria has a wonderful recent post on Orange. Go say hello, and tell her I sent you!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Hi Liz,
Thanks for coming over. PVE designed the header on my old blog. This one is brand spanking new. I love Maria! She has been a friend for a long time.

Three more cheers for orange! It’s so delicious. And you are right — it goes with so many other colors.
