With the beautiful sunny weather we had this weekend I was in full on spring mode. I know we are not there yet, but inject a bit of spring into my home I decided that fresh blooms were in order.
My favorite part of going into the city is the access of fresh blooms at all of the corner deli’s. They are beautiful and cheap! I’m out in the suburbs so it’s not always possible for me to get fresh flowers from the city. When I’m in a bind I head to Fairway Market. If you have one near you I would check them out. They are always full of flowers and each bunch is around $10.
I knew right away exactly where I was going to place them. A couple of weekends ago I had gone to the outlets. I had left pretty much empty handed, but did find two greek key tissue boxes on total clearance at William Sonoma Home. They were originally $34.95 and we got two for $1.98. I have teeny tiny bathrooms with very little counter space so using them as traditional tissue holders was not going to happen, but I knew I could put them to use.
Step 3:
{Flip over tissue box and place bowl inside}
Step 4:
{Cut flowers to size. I wanted mine to peek out just a bit from the opening so I cut them all at the standard height. When you start to place them in foam due to angles some will need to be trimmed a little more.}
Step 5:
{In order to get the arrangement you want I pretend I’m making a bouquet before so that I can see if I like the arrangement or want to switch things up.}
Step 6:
{I start building my arrangements from the opposite ends and then build towards the middle and sides.}
Step 7: FINISHED & ENJOY
{I first tried it them out in my pink living room!}
After I finished the second arrangement I moved them to my dining room:
I’m so happy that I didn’t pass up the clearance tissue boxes at the outlets. Sometimes you just need to think outside of the box. I knew right away that I would put them to good use. Do you have any chic tissue boxes that you can re work and fill with blooms?
Very clever! I think I need to invest in some floral foam. I’ve been doing the tape grid thing and it’s a huge pain in the butt when it’s time to change the water.
So beautiful and what a great find! Did you see that our Annechovie prints were both featured on her blog today? Fun fun! http://annechovie.blogspot.com/
those roses are GORGEOUS! and i love how creative you were with the tissue box. the arrangement is so pretty..i love the orange and peach and green together.

Oh my lordy, this is just pure heaven. Flower arranging is my deepest passion…I can be taken away to the happiest place on earth when doing this very activity! Your’s are absolutely gorgeous, great color combos and perfect arranging. Thanks so much for sharing, I am now so happy!!!
What a terffic idea and a great way to add a touch of spring to your home. I’m off to Trader Joe’s to pick up some flowers. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very clever. I will never look at a tissue box the same way again. I just made 6 arrangements of roses for tables at a memorial dinner yesterday. Each arrangement was a different color with 24 roses in each one. I bought them for $4 a dozen at a place called Produce Junction. They were all so pretty, but I kept the yellow ones and gave the rest to friends and family after the dinner was over.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Love the greek key tissue boxes! They look great as vases. And those flowers are gorgeous. Very springy indeed. I wrote about using unlikely containers/boxes for arrangements, too…http://ourdomesticbliss.blogspot.com/2011/02/fresh-cut-friday-except-its-saturday.html
So many fun options out there. Now you’ll have me checking out tissues boxes, too!
The flowers are beautiful and the tissue box is an ingenious use of an ordinary object used in an extraordinary way. Brava!
Great idea! I love it. Thank you!
