I had the pleasure of meeting our latest featured lady back in September. While at an industry party I made it my goal to introduce myself to Caitlin of Sacramento Street and make her my friend. I love that whenever I read her blog I feel like I’m catching up with a girlfriend and meeting her in person gave me that same feeling. We are now email buddies and I can’t wait to hopefully see her soon in her neck of the woods. This east coaster is itching for a west coast holiday to meet up with many of the design bloggers in Sunny Cali.
I hope you enjoy a day in the life of Caitlin!
7:00 am: Time to wake up! Turn on my iPad to check out Flipboard so I can check to see if my blog post published – yup. Check twitter and read all my favorite blogs (if I have time).
8:30 am: Ready for the day and drive into work with Eric – by far one of my favorite parts of the day because I take the bus home. It’s quality time to talk about what we’ll be doing that day and it usually involves us singing some tunes to get us ready for the day.
8:50 am: Grab a quick Earl Grey Soy Tea Misto and I’m ready for work!
9:00 am: Get into work and check all my work email – “oy vey” is usually what goes through my head at this time.
9:30 am: Editorial brainstorming meeting – this is where our entire editorial department gets together daily to discuss what our Staff Writers should write about. It’s fun getting together to talk about random topics, anything from celebrities to relationships to beauty is discussed.
10:30 am: Back at my desk and ready to get through my work day. I work on all of our editorial marketing and I’m in charge of all of the DivineCaroline newsletters. I spend a lot of my time putting together content for the newsletters.
12:30 pm: Time for my daily walk to the Embarcadero to enjoy the beautiful bay and get some fresh air. If it’s too cold for a walk you’ll find me catching up on blogs and chatting on twitter.
1:30 pm: Back to work . . .
5:00 pm: Leave the office. I’ll either go meet a design client for a meeting or head home and go to my pilates class – it sometimes feels like a luxury to have time to workout.
7:00 pm: Head to our local grocery store for any last minute items I need for dinner and head home.
7:15 pm: Make it back home to cook dinner, which is something I absolutely love doing. It gets me away from technology. It’s my time to get in a zen mood and just be in the kitchen. Tonight, my mom’s carbonara recipe, which is a household favorite and my go-to recipe if I’m not feeling inspired to try something new.
8:00 pm: If there is a SF Giants game on you better believe we’ll be watching it. If not, you’ll find my husband and I catching up on our DVR – White Collar, Criminal Minds, NCIS, and of course some reality tv. This is also the time when the laptop powers on and blogging gets done while my husband sits next to me reading his stack of baseball clips for that day.
8:30 pm: Eric busts out the latest dessert or ice cream he’s made from scratch (this week homemade Samoas.) Seriously, I didn’t gain the freshman 15 in college but I might gain the married 15 – he is a really good baker!
10: 00 pm: All technology off. Yup, new rule in our house that everything has to be off. I really didn’t know how I was going to do since I only have a limited time to blog every day, but it’s worked out well and makes me more diligent about getting them done in a timely manner. It’s time to get the house in order for the next day or open my latest book that is on my night stand.
11:00 pm: Lights out. Time to get some shut eye for tomorrow!
A huge thank you to Camila for having me here for one of my favorite features! It’s been a pleasure sharing my day with you and your readers.
Wow Caitlin accomplishes so much in one day. A trip to the gym and she still has time to make a homemade meal! Amazing. Plus totally love that her hubby does the baking. I could totally get use to that.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Mmmm, that pasta looks so yummy. Care to share the recipe? 😉
I am going to try stealing your 10 p.m. off rule! What a great idea to be able to get everything ready for tomorrow and relax together instead of staying up too late on computers/phones/etc. Love your outfit as well. 😉

Camilla thank you so much for featuring Caitlin. I agree, she is like a friend that you can just pick up your conversation from where it left off the last time you got together!! Wonderful!
