I recently completed one of my favorite style plans to date. I don’t have a large entry way in my home and have always dreamed of a home with a nice sized entry where I could introduce visitors to the style of home. My dreams for an entry way will have to wait until we move to a new home, but I love working my creative juices with clients.
This latest e-decorating clients already has one of my dream pieces in her home and wasn’t sure what to do with it.
She loved the eclectic look it provided for the space, but wanted to turn up the color. Also the entry way can almost be described as a wide hallway so we needed a little something for each wall.
Here is what I come up with:
Like always I can’t disclose all of my sources, but I will share my favorites.
The rug that runs down the hallway/entry way was crucial. It provided us with a variety of colors that we could play with on both walls. The rug is available here.
One wall needed to house a drop off station for keys, etc and of course our entry way table needed a mirror above it so that you could check yourself out on your way in and out of the house. It’s a great bargain at only $169.99!
The wall that will house the settee needed a little love above it and I knew right away that I wanted something that was a bit ethnic in style. These are my favorite suzani patterned prints. They come in variety of sizes, colors and patterns. Plus if you just want the print and can frame them on your own they are super friendly on the wallet.

I love this design! I have purchased the paint for my entry last weekend. I’m dying to get it up on the walls. I may have to get that fabulous rug, too.
I have always loved that Wisteria settee and love the pieces you have chosen for. I am always confused by your reluctance to share sources. I dont feel that is in any way betraying a confidence to your clients and sources are just that, a source, not a secret.
I’m so sorry you feel that way, but not sharing all of the sources on a paying clients design board is the norm in the blog world. I can’t give away a whole plan for free when someone paid me for my design services. I hope you can understand that. I share my plans to give readers inspiration and if they like what they see they can contact me for design work or simply take inspiration and go out and achieve the look on their own.
I love your plan and I love the settee – what a statement piece! This is so timely b/c I’m trying to create a little entryway space in our home as well. It’s a challenge when you really don’t have a defined entryway space. Great job! And I love the mirror too – that is great and a great price.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

The entry way does set the tone for the home and without one, the first view a guest gets a glimpse of is important!
