A couple of months ago I found Danielle’s blog. I insistently became smitten with her. I really loved all the rooms she had designed in her home on a budget. I even mailed her some of my fabric stash for her to use on new pillows for her living room:
Isn’t that floral trellis fabric by Brunschwig & Fils just fab!
With that a friendship was born and Danielle was sweet enough to participate in my IN HER SHOES series.
Enjoy!

I am so excited to participate in this series! My days are never the same, some are busier than others, but that is what I like most about my schedule, it is so flexible!
7:30am: I am woken up by Emory jumping into my bed and giving me cuddles. It is the best.
7:45am: I lay in bed, check my emails and blog comments, and blog surf.
8:00am: I drag myself out of bed. Emory is hungry so I fix her some breakfast. I love her mismatched jammies, I am chalking that one up to creativity.
8:15am: Time to make myself some breakfast. Lately, I am loving a green smoothie in the morning. This recipe is my favorite.
8:30am: I clean the house, put in a load of laundry, shower, and get ready.
10:15am: We are off, we head to Michaels to pick up some supplies for a DIY project that I am helping a client, and good friend, with after lunch.
10:45am We pick up some watercolor paper for an art project, and then head to Home Depot for some spray paint.
11:00am I find the perfect charcoal spray paint!
12:00pm Arrive at my friends house. Her entry rug arrived the day before so I took a second to snap a picture. I love the way her entry is coming together.
12:30pm: Eat lunch and then get started on our DIY project, painting picture frames! Emory plays in the backyard while we get to work.
2:30pm: While we wait for the frames to dry, we start on our DIY art to go in the frames.
4:30pm: We finally finish our art project and head to dinner!
5:00pm: Emory was starving and I had no food in the house, so we stoop at Noodles & Company for dinner. She loves that place.
6:00pm: We head home and get Emory ready for bed!
7:00pm: Put Emory to bed…wahoo! I love that girl but bedtime is wonderful 🙂
7:30pm: Zack arrives home from the hospital. I get to chat with him for a quick second before he heads back out the door to study 🙁
7:30pm-12:00am: It’s time to get to work! At night is when I get things done. I write my blog post for the following day, work on my design projects, and answer emails. By midnight I am exhausted!
12:00am: Bedtime, my favorite time of day!

A big thanks to Danielle for sharing her day with us! I have some great ladies lined up for the next couple of weeks. I’m off to pick up supplies for Easter table. We are finally do a holiday at my house and my dining room table needs a little love.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
