The latest lady to be featured on IN HER SHOES is one of my design idols, Lauren from Porter Design Company.I actually blogged about her amazing design skills awhile back. Seriously go spend some time looking through her jaw dropping portfolio. So sit back, relax and enjoy reading up on Lauren’s day at her studio.

6:30: Alarm rings….straight to the Breville machine for my 1st cup of coffee.
6:45: I check my email and poke around on Pinterest for a few minutes before Georgia wakes up. This has become a morning ritual and just about the only quiet time I get all day. As you can see, I’m a beginner pinner….
7:00: Georgia wakes up and we watch an episode of Play with Me Sesame while she has a bottle (yes, she should be on a Sippy cup by now)
7:15: Husband leaves for the gym before work.
7:30: Shower, get ready, get Georgia dressed & fed, pack Georgia’s lunch, let Marley out (yellow lab…my husband named him…original, right?), and we’re off!
9:00am: I arrive at office to see that we had received a delivery of about 5 big boxes. I decide they should be opened tomorrow and head out the door for my first client meeting.
10:00am -11:00am: Client meeting at client’s new house. We discuss paint colors & floor stains. This is our first appointment so I decide beeeeeeetter to hold off on taking photos of her OR her house before she thinks I’m crazy. There is plenty of time for that…
11:00am -12:00pm – Second client meeting. Say hello to Cosmo!
We chat about wallpaper options and a light fixture for her downstairs powder room. We are seesawing between this one from Quadrille or the Allison print in navy/white from Thibaut.
My client gives me a set of 4 plates as a gift – Love them! They go great with the little bit of Chiang Mai in my kitchen
12:00-ish: I get a text from our office manager that a box from New York Spaces magazine has been delivered to the office….We are featured in the May/June color issue and they sent us 5 advance copies! Super excited, I speed back to the office.
….and here we are!!!
12:30pm – Starving. I pick up a Bistro Box & a coffee from Starbucks….four packets of raw sugar & cream.
1:00 – Work on another client project. I’m determined to use this orange zebra print wallpaper somewhere!
3:00 – Georgia has a follow-up appointment at the doctor – We’re in and out…and even better, no more ear infection!
4:00 – We play. I sneak in a few emails.
5:00 – I sit down to feed Georgia & Marley (he gets whatever falls on the floor) – chicken, avocados, and some blueberries.
6:00 – Bed time – Georgia gets a bath & brushes her hair….and goes to bed about 20 minutes later.
7:00 – My husband gets home from a lacrosse game and we sit down for dinner. We have what they call a smorgasbord: a few leftovers and some salmon & broccoli (so we could say we ate SOMETHING healthy!).
After 7pm – Not a whole lot happens over here after 7pm. Once I sit down for dinner, I’m pretty much done for the day. We watch a DVR-ed episode of Modern Family (if you don’t watch this, I HIGHLY recommend it!) and then we’re in bed by 9pm.
Thanks to all for spending the day with me and a special thank you to Camila for having me! I couldn’t forget the shoes but here are a pair of Georgia’s shoes instead….they are MUCH cuter than mine.
A big thanks to Lauren for sharing her day with us! I think I must set up a play date with Lauren and Georgia! I hope Georgia like younger men. 🙂
Happy Friday!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I love Modern Family! A hilarious show
I love this series – it’s so neat to see what an interior designer’s daily schedule is like.
Love a day in Lauren’s life! Soooo glam!
