This weekend was much tamer than last weekend. Last weekend Jon was in the ER and getting an open appendectomy so this week Jon continued to recover and we spent a low key weekend at home. We had two beautiful fall days this weekend in NY so even though Jon was recovering we managed to get out of the house for a couple of little trips to enjoy the weekend.
We started off our weekend having lunch at Benihana, because we thought Hudson would have a kick seeing the chef cook everything in front of us.
He wasn’t amused:
{Perhaps when I gave him a little business man hair do everything just got a bit more serious for him. 🙂 }
We also went to park and enjoy some time on the slide:
{Don’t you love Hudson’s face. I can totally see him thinking, “Oh my mom is nuts. I can’t believe she’s taking my picture again!}
I’ve also been toying with being becoming a vendor on One Kings Lane Vintage & Market finds so I hit my favorite thrift store to see if they had any goodies.
I found lots of campaign style furniture:
Only issue was that they were all formica. Now I know some bloggers have painted over formica in the past and insist that it comes out great, but that has never been my experience with it so I ended up leaving them. Even though I actually think they are in great original shape so perhaps someone would love them as well? What do you think?
Fell head over heels in love with this mid century modern piece by John Stuart:
Amazing, right?
It had a little damage so I also left it behind:
I’m actually now regretting leaving it behind. I think I will actually head out later on today and see if it’s still around so I can snag it!
Also loved this piece:
{Doesn’t the unique hardware just make the piece?}
I’m actually now having thrifting remorse that I spied all of these cool items, but didn’t pick up any of them. At the time Hudson had fallen asleep in the car so Jon stayed in the car with him and I ran in alone and just couldn’t pull the trigger on anything without having someone else to see the pieces and give me the okay that I wasn’t nuts in seeing their potential.
That last one particularly is ahhhh-mazing. I really love it, and if I were already in New York, I’d totally ask you to grab it up. The hardware is incredible.
Love the furniture! I can never find stuff like this in Canada (at decent prices, at least). Which thrift store is this you speak of? Maybe if I’ve ever in New York I can do some scouting. Thanks!
I think you should be a OKL vendor! Those pieces could be professionally done and look stunning. Emily Henderson did a collection {sold out as well} and most of the stuff she had for sale she paid someone to paint them or upholster them. You just need a place to store them until they sell, that could be hard. I hope you pull the trigger on some of these items next time, you really do find some great items, you always should go with your gut!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Great furniture! I have thrifting remorse a lot! I usually leave the store thinking about what I left behind! It’s tough! 😉
Oh, and Hudson is totally cute in the pics!

Thanks Stephanie! It’s actually in the works! Stay tuned.
