I hope you all had a less eventful weekend than me. We were all set to have a fun filled family weekend with just our little party of 3 (plus 2 pups) and then Jon came home with a stomach ache Friday night. That turned into a pain that just wasn’t going away and at 3 am we ended up here:
Yup that’s the emergency room at our local hospital. Someone was not happy that I whipped out my camera to snap a picture for my weekend recap. Sorry love!
Turns out that stomach ache was actually his appendix and luckily it hadn’t burst yet, but it needed to be removed.
We waited around for hours while an OR opened up.
Finally at 5:15 pm on Saturday Jon got his appendix removed and then Sunday at 11 am we were on our way home. Poor guy, but he is a trooper and he is resting now and doing well.
In honor of Jon’s little sick day I decided to gather up some of my favorite sick day essentials so that this post just isn’t filled with Jon’s mad face and legs. 🙂
No. 1: In order to get some shut eye while you are at home or in the hospital an eye mask is always helpful. How could you feel sick channeling Audrey Hepburn. Who needs pants when you can rock a polka dot shirt PJ top instead?
No. 2: Keep all of your prescriptions in this chic pill holder and shallow them down with water from this cheeky water carafe.
No.3: Rest up and watch your favorite movie. One of my go to favorites has to be Mermaids.I love Mrs. Flax and her polka dot dresses, cooky meals and the fab music video at the end.
No. 4: Curl up with this stylish throw and snuggle with your favorite person or pet.
No. 5: If you have to walk around do it in style with these bowtiful slippers.
No. 6: Make sure your favorite nurse leaves you a tray filled with some fresh blooms and scented candles to bring the outdoors inside.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
