We had the gloomiest of weekends here in NY. All fog, gray skies and rain that alternated between misting to full on down pours.
Here are some of highlights from the weekend.
Snagged some chic rugs from Homegoods:
Hudson went out and picked out a Christmas tree for my parents house. The kid went big and picked a tree that was over 8ft tall!
Here he is getting some hanging tips from his Aunt Ximena:
All finished:
I love decorating at my parents house, but when it comes to my own house I never really decorate for the holidays. These past 3 years we have never put up anything for Christmas, but this year we decided to get into the spirit a bit.
Here is our mantle all done up:
For our tree we decided to use a fake tree we had from years ago so that it would be Hudson safe and instead of ornaments I raided my fabric and craft closet and we made bows instead.
Since I was already raiding the fabric closet I dug a bit more and found some classic black and white gingham fabric and used it for a tree skirt.
The rest of the weekend was spent working on some fun, easy and budget friendly DIY gifts for the blog.
Sneak peek:
{We’ll be featuring all of the new projects this week! Fingers crossed the photos came out all day. Overcast days are not ideal for photoshoots, but the show must go on!}
Of course since we were busy working on projects Hudson decided to get adventurous and start climbing everything!
{Jon got Hudson dressed since the skull thermal shirt and camo overalls. 🙂 P.S. Don’t worry Hudson was never in danger. I did DIY projects and Jon was on Hudson duty.}
It was kinda gloomy here in Michigan, too, although we got some snow along with rain. I like your new rugs but I love your last photo! What a little cutie pie!! 🙂

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Such great finds at HomeGoods!! I’m not a huge holiday decorator- I try to get into the spirit but I don’t go overboard. Love the bow idea!
Hi! Can I ask where you got that painting in the black frame in the last photo with hudson in his little camo overalls? Thanks!
It was kinda gloomy here in Michigan, too, although we got some snow along with rain. I like your new rugs but I love your last photo! What a little cutie pie!! 🙂
How damn cute is he? Your son is the absolute most adorable little thing I have ever laid eyes on!
