Jon and I took off from work on Friday in order to celebrate Hudson’s birthday all day long so we had an extra long weekend.
His birthday started out with a picture of him in his birthday suit!
{Oh my goodness! How cute are those ears? }
We then headed out for the day to an indoor play place. We had never been to one and weren’t sure how Hudson was going to react, but after being a little shy at first he totally loved it!
Afterwards we went out to a 50’s inspired burger joint to eat a little lunch. Jon caught this cute shot of Hudson on his actual birthday minute!
He also enjoyed a little cake later on in the day with all of the family.
{I had gotten him his own cupcake to smash, but put a candle on his actual birthday cake and never expected him to grab it. Well I was wrong. A whole bunch of frosting ended up all of the place.}
While everyone got to eat cake with handprints on it Hudson enjoyed his yummy cupcake.
We continued the birthday celebrating the following day by heading into the city to check out all of the cool toys at FAO.
He loved seeing all of the people and hustle and bustle.
He also loved checking out all of the large windows and just staring out at the street and then at us.
We then checked out the tree on the way to lunch:
It was a lovely day full of fun and all of the people that love Hudson the most!
On Sunday it was back to business and we had an install and of course our weekly trip to Home Depot for supplies.
I had to snap a picture of this oh so pretty lamp!
{ Online the lamp doesn’t look like much and my iphone pic isn’t the best, but it’s stunning in person and at a great price point. Only $59.97 online/$79 in store}
By the end of the night we were exhausted. For some reason Hudson has been having some sleep issues this last week and putting him in his crib makes him immediately wake up. Apparently Jon found a loop hole.
Check out what I spied on the baby monitor!
{Apparently Jon figured out that if he climbs in to place him down in the crib and then slowly creeps out he actually falls asleep. Please tell me someone else has actually done this and we aren’t nuts! 🙂 }
I never climbed into a crib, but I do lay down with my kids at bedtime to snuggle (ages 6 and 10). I also seem to remember them having trouble sleeping around their first birthdays and other times when they were making big leaps developmentally. 🙂
I laughed so hard when I saw that crib pic! We have two kids and the variety of things that have caused them not to go down for naps or bed is endless. The best was when our now 5-year-old, went through a two-month phase of being scared of her room at about 2.5, and refused to sleep in her room. After sitting in there night after night until she was dead asleep, we went super nanny boot camp for a week to try to get her to stay in there. She would cry in the hall right outside our room, and I would fold laundry and try to “gently ignore” her. She would eventually fall asleep on the hardwood floor next to the stairs by our room. It was heartbreaking. It did pay off though, one week later, she stayed in her room, and she’s been good ever since!
Awesome! No you are not nuts. My husband & I have both done it with our 2 year old. It was a funny thing for her at first but when bedtime rolled around she began to ask for us to join her. Needless to say, we no longer join her but you do whatever it takes!
Ah good to know. No one was really commenting saying they had done the same, but I just figured what ever works for us is good enough for me. Happy to know I’m not alone. 🙂

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I’m not a parent but if out works go for it. Happy birthday

Love the last picture, made me laugh out loud…love it!

I used to climb into her cot to breast feed her to sleep, like at least 3 times a night!ha ha
