I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty typical to get girl crushes from time to time. Whether it’s a new friend you meet or someone famous you admire, but will never meet there are days that you daydream with thoughts about, “What if I was her”. Hence my new series ( I don’t think it will be weekly, but perhaps monthly) called I wanna be…
Today’s first featured lady is Carolina Herrera and here are my top 5 reasons for wanting to be her!
1. Her mother is fashion designer Carolina Herrera so you know she must have an amazing closet and has impeccable taste and style.
{My all time favorite Carolina Herrera dresshas to be the dress she designed for Renee Zellweger in 2004 for the Oscars. Ah I always dreamed of having a wedding dress just like it.}
2. Her home was featured in our beloved Domino magazine.
{ I remember being in a awe of her massive bathroom that is decorated like anything but a bathroom. The cow hide rug! The striped chaise! All of the bathroom fixtures seem to disappear it just looks like a cool sitting room.}
3. She lives in Madrid. Now I have yet to make it to Madrid, but I just know that Spain and I would just get along famously.
4. She actually told Elle Decor magazine during an interview that she had just grabbed 14 chairs out of a garbage pile, because they were perfectly good old chairs. Ah totally a girl after my own heart.
5. She is daring with design and has not 1, but 2 rooms in her home upholstered with fabric and trimmed out with jute and nail heads.
I couldn’t agree more! I had the good fortune to sit next to her at a dinner party for her mother’s store opening in LA a few years back, and I can tell you she is completely crush-worthy! She told me all about her farm (!!!) and what being a mother was like (this was before my daughter was born)–a total sweetheart!
You are way prettier and your style is just as great. You also have a very cute baby boy. I rather sit next to you at a dinner party than Carolina. I ‘m sure you are more fun!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
The white gown you love is currently on display in the CFDA Impact: 50 Years of Fashion exhibit down in Boca. I was there a few weeks ago. =)
I’m such a huge fan of CH, and I’m in LOVE with Carolina Jr.’s home, absolutely stunning!
I love her too. I remember the first time I saw her pink hall with the nailhead trim – I’ve been in love ever since! 🙂
