We had a bit of an unusual weekend this week, because Jon’s sweet grandpa passed away and our days were filled with wakes and funeral. A funeral is always a cause for sadness and tears, but I was hopeful because I knew how much he suffered towards the end and after living a very full and happy almost 90 years he was with his loving wife looking down on us all.

It seemed weird to write a blog post letting you all know what happened this weekend, but it also felt odd to leave it out since it was such a big part of our lives. I don’t want to leave you all with sad thoughts so I must inject some pictures and pretty design details.
After the funeral we headed out to luncheon at Hendricks Tavern with family and friends. It was so nice to see so many people that loved Pop just as much as we did and eat some yummy food. Hendricks is a new restaurant that took over a very old catering hall called George Washington Manor so it was interesting to see what they did to the inside.
The space is now decorated in chocolate browns, cream, and pops of jade green. There are groupings of vintage prints in the sitting areas and loads of leather furniture.
The manly leather furniture was balanced out by zebra print wing chairs! I also enjoyed the fretwork pattern in the sisal carpeting.
I love a room design where the designer doesn’t forget about the walls and this room did not disappoint! The sitting room featured upholstered walls in the brown and cream ticking fabric with jute trim. Oh!!! Would love to do upholstered walls in a clients home. Any takers? 🙂
My favorite design element? Of course it was a teeny detail, but I loved the classic and simple H monogram that was featured on all of their paper goods. A napkin or two or three might have made it’s way into my purse for my own little H.
Happy Monday all! Hoping this week is a bit less eventful then last week.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
So sorry to hear about Jon’s Pop. So glad, though, that he got to spend time with H. Such a cute picture!
