My pal, Kate from Domestikated Life recently got married! I loved seeing all of wedding sneak peeks on instagram and I can’t wait to see her official wedding pictures!
Recently I chatted with the new Mrs. to find out what is a do and a don’t in her new Mr. and Mrs. master bedroom.
-Monogramming on bedding? A do or a don’t?
A big giant monogrammed Y-E-S! We were gifted monogrammed sheets for our wedding and it was one of my favorite presents. I was a bit superstitious though and didn’t put them on our bed until after the wedding – now I love seeing our new shared monogram when I crawl into bed at night.
-Do you make the bed every morning?
I always make the bed in the morning, part of it is that I’m a bit of a neat freak, but also because I think getting into bed at night is so much cozier when you pull back the sheets on a tightly made bed!
-Breakfast in bed? A do or a don’t? Favorite Breakfast meal
The hubby and I disagree on this, he doesn’t love the idea of eating in bed, but he does bring me my morning coffee every weekend while I sleep in (what a catch, right?). If he’s feeling extra nice sometimes we eat a movie snack, like a bowl of popcorn in bed, if I promise to keep the crumbs in check!
-Accent pillows on bed. What’s the perfect amount?
We each have two standard pillows and a euro pillow, plus one accent pillow. I keep the accent pillows to a minimum because we live in a small space, but mix them up frequently to keep the bedding look fresh.
-Nightstand essentials?
We don’t see eye to eye on nightstand essentials – his side is very minimalist, a cell phone charger and an old school alarm clock. I on the other hand keep a stack of books, my glasses, lots of little dishes to hold my jewelry, a travel candle in a delicious grapefruit scent, a pen to jot down notes while I’m in bed, and probably the latest shelter magazines!
-Favorite duvet set on Crane and Canopy?
I adore the Linden set in coral – it’s got a very clean, preppy look that is a perfect blank canvas for mixing and matching with other linens.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
