Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had plans to go to a local pool on Saturday, but we woke up to gray clouds and rain so instead we spent the mornings in our PJ’s and while Hudson was napping we got to work and finished a project that has been sitting in my living room for months!
We built a console for our living room over a year ago and we wanted to cover it in grasscloth. It stayed in it’s natural wood state for months and months and on Saturday we finally finished it!
Here is a sneak peek:
{DIY steps will be following this week.}
We then took a victory break and went out to eat for some yummy Southern food. I love the sweet and savory mix of chicken and waffles.
{Total blogger no-no, but I took a little bit of my chicken before I snapped my picture. Whoops!}
The day finally cleared up a bit in the early evening so we decided to tackle some a photoshoot for items that we are putting up in our vintage and market finds store on One Kings Lane.Hudson didn’t appreciate not being the center of attention and decided to try and get into all of our photo set ups.
We ended our day with a quick trip to Target to pick up a couple of baby gifts. They just have the cutest clothing especially for little girls.
{Of course I had to pick out something with an elephant and then stripes.}
On Sunday we had beautiful weather and we headed out east for a boat ride in honor of Jon’s late grandfather. Jon’s late grandfather would have turned 90 on Sunday so it seemed only fitting to scatter his ashes in the water and have a shot of scotch for his good bye.
Boats tend to put Hudson to sleep so he enjoyed a nap or two while we were out:
i can think of worse things than eating a piece of chicken before the picture 🙂 i served naked cake in the streets before it cooled, and a huge portion of it melted all over me ( http://apartment-wife.com/2013/08/03/naked-cake-party-in-the-streets/ ) — pretty bad pictures for the blog — guess we all do it 🙂

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
