Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had all intentions to hit the beach or try out a new kiddie pool, but the weather never got hot enough for either so we worked on some home projects.
Saturday was spent cleaning out Jon’s workroom that was over flowing with almost finished projects and all the things needed for said projects. We thought Hudson would be bored, but he was loving going back and forth with us and putting things a way and taking items to the trash.
In between the organizing we worked on a little re-vamp. We found this mid-century bookcase on the street:
I knew my sister could probably use it in her new apt, but it was a bit too large. No worries though Jon took a saw to it and voila it’s now the perfect size!
With all that work we made sure to have a little fun at the end of day and Hudson got some pool time!
{This was not mommy approved! Of course Hudson and Daddy loved it. }
Of course no weekend is complete without a trip to Home Depot.
{ I think Hudson wants to try out for the US Olympic curling team. 🙂 }
Sunday morning we had a little bit of a late start while we watched a movie and Hudson sat in his new favorite seat. He is obsessed with taking his bean bag pouf and putting it on top of our bed. He reminds me of a little bird in a nest. Very cute, but I’m a ball of nerves thinking he is going to fall off the bed.
On Sunday we went to a local thrift store to look for a coffee table that we could use as a base for a train table we have been making for Hudson. Of course while we searched for furniture Hudson found the toy section and would not let go of this stuffed animal.
{Kinda freaking out about where this stuffed animal could have lived before Hudson grabbed him, but he was smitten we couldn’t pry it out of his little hands.}
Along with our furry friend we also picked up this outdoor picnic table for Hudson:
Plus the coffee table base to complete our train table!
After playing with his trains we took some time to fly a kite:
I even had time to finish up a painting project that has been sitting unfinished in my dining room for months and months.
All in all I very productive weekend! I feel like a weight has been lifted. It felt so good to clean out all of the junk in the shop, get organized and finish a project or two.
Gosh, Camila! Where do you get your energy from?? Please share, cause I need more 😉 Love that you’re painting something green – can’t wait to see what it is! And that photo of Hudson atop his green bean bag pouf is adorable!
Great weekend!! I love the idea of cutting down the bookcase to make it work, so smart!! The green cart is looking so good 🙂 I love one I have productive weekends (this past weekend, I got a bunch of things checked off my list, such a good feeling!!)
My sons loved their Little Tykes picnic table…they are now grown men (sob!) but I wish I had saved it for my granddaughter. I will have to keep an eye out for one at a tag sale. The best cleaner EVER for outdoor plastic is ‘Krud Kutter’ , available at Ace hardware and most paint stores. I taught nursery school for many years and this stuff got off all the dirt that would imbed itself on every surface. Hope this is useful information….love your blog!
it is great to see someone with lots of energy getting good things accomplished even if we did not get to see your finished painting project. BUT how amusing to see that handsome young man with his accomplishments. With that look who could say no to the bunny ??

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
