Yesterday we tackled DIY Polka Dot wine glasses (super easy, right?). Today we will continue with an equally as easy and budget friendly gift you can make for the holidays.
We all have a handful of girlfriends we would love to gift a little something special. Here is an easy and custom gift that you can make in less than 15 mins.
SUPPLIES:
– MAKE UP CASES: I picked these up at my local Dollar Tree, but I have also seen similar at H&M or Forever 21.
– GOLD LEAF PEN
– THICKERS CHIPBOARD STICKERS IN GOLD
-CRAZY GLUE
-PAINTERS TAPE
-EMBROIDERY THREAD
– 10 mm JUMP RING IN NICKEL
– SMALL PIECE OF CARDBOARD
STEP 1: Tassels are all the rage and once you see how easy they are to make you will be adding them to everything. Simply get a small piece of cardboard that you wind with your embroidery thread. I like to mix up colors so I used 2 different colors here. Wind the threads to your desired thickness.
STEP 2: Open your jump ring with pliers and loop it through the top thread section of your cardboard.
STEP 3: Cut your threads from the opposite end of the cardboard and then knot a section in the middle of your threads.
STEP 4: Use your pliers to add your tassel to the make up bag. I added it to a loop I had on the side of the bag, but you could also add it to the zipper. You will then use the pliers to close the jump ring. More detailed images of tassel making here.
STEP 5: Now it’s time to customize. Use your painters tape to mark a level line where you would like your monogram to go. Then use crazy glue to attach the thickers stickers.
STEP 6: For the silver make up bag I added a multi-colored tassel as well and then decided to go with some lettering instead of a monogram. Again use painters tape to add a level line where you want your writing to go.
STEP 7: With your best handwriting write a little saying. Since it was a make up bag I decided to go with Finishing Touches.
STEP 8: All done!
Relax and admire your handiwork and make one for yourself too!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I love this idea! Thanks for sharing!
