Oh Monday how quickly you sneak up on us.
Here are a couple of peeks from our holiday weekend.
We hosted a little get together on the 4th and had all intentions to eat outdoors, but mother nature had other plans.
{I was playing around with tablescapes the day before, but alas we weren’t able to use it due to rain.}
I didn’t want to stress out hosting on the 4th so we kept things simple. We had help from both sets of parents with one bringing appitizers and the other set providing beverages so that was super helpful. My sister bought over desserts and we cooked up some kebobs on the grill. I couldn’t resist picking up some glazed donuts for dessert as well, because it just seemed so all American and lets face it I have a huge sweet tooth. My sister set up the dessert table and I love how she dressed up my plain glazed donuts with sprinkles!
{Don’t my $2.99 for a dozen donuts look so fancy all dressed up with sprinkles?}
On Saturday we headed out east bright and early for a get together and fun was had by all. I even put away my iphone for most of the day, which was surprisingly nice.
Since we were celebrating the 4th on the 5th I decided to wear a little red (ok so it was really orange), white and blue.
The best part of our day out east was getting to see Hudson hang out with his cousins. He loves little friends so it was great to see him play.
{Here is Hudson with some of the girls watching a little Sofia the first.}
We got home on the late side Saturday night, but try telling that to Hudson and Asher who were up bright and early. For some reason in my sleep deprived state I decided it was the perfect time to clean up this mess of a closet:
{Yes that is still my wedding dress from almost 8 years ago hanging at the back of my closet door covered by massive collection of scarves. Whoops!}
I would love to post an after shot, but even after a handful of hours cleaning it the end results don’t love that photo worthy. Everything is more organzied though and I discarded bags of clothes/shoes/handbags that I didn’t wear anymore so, it’s a win.
We then spent the afternoon with my side of the family at my parents house in their newly re-vamped patio.
The long weekend ended with all of us at home watching Finding Nemo before bed and this momma had her hands full with lots of love and affection for my little guys.
Hope you all had an enjoyable holiday weekend!
I finished up
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
That last image of you being adored by your boys is so beautiful!!!!
Wonderful!
Could you tell us about the fabric on your parent’s deck pillows? Thanks!
