Jon and I are homebodies. We love nothing more than snuggling in our bed with a good movie on a Friday night and just relaxing. This Friday we had my sister’s 30th birthday party and while it was a crazy week and I was exhausted it was so nice to go out and see people my age not of the toddler variety. It’s good to break out of your comfort zone every once in a while.
The party was held at a champagne lounge called, Bubble Lounge. It was held in a private room in a basement with low lighting and no windows so it was hard to get good photos, but here are a couple of shots from the bash!
The party started at 10pm so we had passed appetizers and then I put together a dessert bar with chocolate covered pretzel rods, black and white cookies (my sisters fav), mini cupcakes and powdered donuts complete with gold dusting.
We also tried to put together an oreo cake a la Marth Stewart, but it wasn’t as easy as Martha makes it look. How many men does it take to build a cake?
We needed like a million more oreos, but at least we had a faux cake of sorts to sing Happy Birthday.
We also made sure to have a little champs to cheers to the birthday girl!
I ordered giant balloons from here. Only $3.95 per balloon and then my local party supply store (Party City) charged me $3.56 to inflate each balloon.
Jon helped himself to some photo booth props. He he.
One of my sisters best friends ordered custom sunglasses that were super fun to wear. Thanks Maura!
{It totally looks like I went pantless, but don’t worry I’m wearing sequined shorts!}
Fun times were had by all! I made it home by 2 and then was promptly up at 7 in order to get ready for soccer! Then back to the city for a birthday brunch.
The Winslow was a perfect place for brunch. It was designed in a mix of rustic and industrial finds and along with the pretty design candy the food was good as well.
We even got enjoy a more traditional birthday cake! Hudson loves helping blowing out the candles.
Hudson also realized he loves to eat frosting. Oh yes he did!
We were also able to give the birthday girl her gifts. We all chipped in and did 30 gifts for her 30th on the 30th. One of my favorite purchases was massive X for her gallery wall from Hudson Metal Works.
I wrapped up my Saturday by working on flower arrangements into the wee hours of the night for an event I was hired to work on.
On Sunday I spent most of the day cleaning then we went to Home Depot to pick up supplies for a new Home Depot Style Challenge that we are a part of.
Here is a little peek at part of our project:
We spent the rest of our day playing with the boys. How cute is this little man? I can’t handle him.
While the majority of the world was watching football I took some time to catch up on some reading when the boys went to bed.
Saying this weekend exhausted me is an understatement. Counting down the days till Friday. 🙂
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
