My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
As a mom of a young boy, it is the fort aspect that he loves. We build forts all the time. Last night mine slept in one that he made at the foot of his bed. Perhaps you can still have the day bed, but with the added fort element. Another alternative is to sew a canopy cover from a more neutral fabric (if it is the color.) Have fun! Sleeping in a “tent” is many a boy’s dream bed.
You could have SO much fun with that bed for Hudson! It’s screaming to be painted fun colors!!
just let kids rooms be their place and it will work out. It is neutral enough that you can add all the color to other items. This is for a mom who bought a slightly different version of the same bed for her now 32 year old “boy”.
I meant from not for. Ugh.
We thought about the Kuba bed for our three year old, but he’s too much of a daredevil right now. I can just see him flying off the top. This “hack” is cute: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/75224256253322844/
That bed would look cool with curtains, which would give you a chance to use a really fun pattern and create a tent-like space underneath. Plus you can always shove stuff under there, close the curtains, and the room looks clean! And the nice thing about IKEA is that it isn’t a huge investment, so it’s not a big deal if he outgrows it in a few years.
