My personal design style is a mix of so many different things. I have a fresh take on traditional design, preppy and pattern filled decor and overall a happy space. I also love to inject those spaces with a does of vintage and cottage style. Some may think that all of those styles don’t necessarily go together, but trust me they do. An effortless design style is one that mixes a little bit of everything.
Here are some starting points for a Fall inspired Cottage style bedroom:
No.1 I normally go with a solid color for curtain panels, but I love the idea of going ikat pattern in this look. A perfect boho touch.
No.2 How amazing is this light fixture? I love how feminine it is and it’s such a small dose that you could easily get an okay on if you have a masculine counter part sharing your bedroom.
No.3 This lamp works perfectly with our color scheme but isn’t matchy/matchy. It’s a teeny bit off which I love. It adds a dose of whimsey to the space.
No.4 A traditional bedroom chest with a modern and glam twist is always a good thing in my book.
No.5 I needed to go big with a cottage style accent. Love the large buffalo check on this headboard.
No. 7 Isn’t the color of this sofa the best! It looks like it’s been faded in the sun a bit and has quite a history behind it. I’ve been on a big kick of putting sofas at the foot of the bed. It’s a perfect little perch and additional seating area in even the smallest of bedrooms.
No. 8 Normally I find this accent fabric to similar to the main fabric, but in this case I think it works. I would even add some other mix matched options to place on the settee and give off an eclectic vibe.
No. 9 Isn’t this handwoven rug perfect for this room scheme?I think so! I love a piece that is handmade and this one has the fabric hand dyed and it’s woven on a traditional loom. All amazing especially seeing that the prices aren’t out of this world for such craftsmanship. Only downside is that they can have a long lead time.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I like this design. I love that rug- good find!
