Another weekend that has come along way too quickly. We got a lot of accomplished, but both days seriously flew by!
On Saturday we got lots of things checked off our list.
We went to check out a bowling alley for Hudson’s birthday party and he approved it so, we got that all set up!
Of course once you are in a bowling alley it’s impossible to leave without doing a little bowling yourself. The boys really enjoyed themselves and Hudson is really excited about his party!
The rest of the day was spent with my sister doing wedding dress shopping!
We started our day out at Nordstrom getting the proper undergarments. How amazing are their floors! Love!
We then wandered into their Bridal dept and we were able to get in and she tried on a couple of dresses! I had never really paid attention to their wedding dress section before, but they had some beautiful options and they were all actually really reasonably priced.
One of the beauties that caught our eye:
After that we jetted off to our first official dress appointment of the day. It was actually the same place where I got my dress and guess what? She said yes to the dress! It’s amazing and she looks stunning in and we were all very excited. No pictures of this until the big day!
We got to cancel the next appointment and then headed back to Nordstrom to check out Mother of Bride dresses and bridesmaid options.
Sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles:
My mom found her a beautiful dress and said yes to the dress as well! Win, win.
The rest of my evening was spent prepping for my mom’s birthday dinner that I was hosting on Sunday. Off to the market I went to pick up supplies and I started to cook as well!
On Sunday we ran over bright and early to scream, Happy Birthday Grandma just as she was waking up. 🙂
Then we ran home and I got to work on a photo shoot! You see after working with Domino on, How to host brunch without cooking they asked me to work on another piece. I was styling it outdoors, but decided my yard didn’t have as many leaves as I wanted so poor Jon was grabbing loads of leaves from piles in front of neighbors houses.
Here is a little peek at what I did:
Once that was all set up, photographed and then cleaned up I got to work on my mom’s birthday dinner.
I decided to go colorful. Shocking I know!
Everyone loved the food. I made a recipe that belonged to Jon’s grandmother called Steak pie, which was basically a beef stew base with puff pastry on top. Yum! I did a side of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and zucchini and corn and then also had some corn bread on the side. It was so yummy!
What’s a birthday celebration without some cake and singing? The boys loved this part and we even had to light the candles again so Hudson could blow them out all over again.
Happy Monday!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
