While it would have been lovely to spend our entire weekend at Foxfire Mountain House we did a full itinerary to check out the sites.
We started off our weekend with one of my most amazing massages I have ever had at Emerson Resort and Spa. If you are ever in the area you must try them out and ask for Nicole. Seriously amazing spa. They have deals for upcoming Spa Week in April and I’m itching to return.
The Emerson is also known for housing the world’s largest kaleidoscope. The kaleidoscope is open daily from 10am-5pm and it costs $5 for admission.
They also have a little country shop in the resort complete with old school candy jars! You know I love a good pick and mix situation.
There are also a bunch of boutiques in the resort, but my favorite part with the herringbone brick floor and oriental rugs throughout the shops.
We also thought it would be nice to enjoy a yoga class so instead of going out to a studio we had the studio come to us! It was so fun to do a class with all of the girls and since we all knew each other and it was a party of sorts the instructor did a bunch of partner moves with us.
After yoga we went on a little scavenger hunt of sorts to see the sites.
My sister figured out the first clue with help of her pal, Allison.
The first clue lead us to Woodstock where our first stop was Candlestock. Candlestock is one of the oldest businesses in Woodstock and it has a drip candle that has been burning since 1970!
When in Candlestock one must buy some candles. The bride to be actually picked up some candles for her unity candle here!
We all needed a little caffeine to keep things going so we popped into Bread Alone. Bread Alone is a well known bakery in the area and it did not disappoint!
I had to pick up one of their legendary oatmeal whoopie pies! So good!
We continued our walk on Tinker St to our next destination.
Along the way we spied lots of groovy Woodstock clothing.
Locals with groovy flair:
We ended up at a friendly little Shindig in the heart of Woodstock.
I had my favorite Boylan soda and juicy burger. If you are in the area make sure to try out their tinker tots!
Another stop on our hunt was Castaways in the woods a thrift shop in the area that gets people speak highly of. It was filled to the brim with clothes. I enjoy shopping for home decor items in the thrift store so they wasn’t my cup of tea.
Another stop on our hunt was the Golden Notebook an independent book shop that has been around since 1978. It was a really charming shop filled with goodies especially a big selection of books on the Catskills.
Taco Juans is a taco shop that is known for it’s ice cream. Weird, right? I heard so many good things about the ice cream that we had to make a stop.
We went with Jane’s Homemade ice cream and it was AMAZING!
That little cup with 3 spoons is their largest size and it was $7, but it was super good.
We made a detour once we saw a sign for cupcakes! That led us down and path to Peace, Love and Cupcakes.
Apparently this shop had won a Food Network show and there was a line when we got there and not too many cupcakes to pick from.
We did manage to score half a dozen of the blood, sweat and tears and tie-dye cupcakes and they were perfection! They are so good that one girls in our group actually saw someone drop their cupcake on the ground frosting side down and they picked it up and kept eating it!
We ended our hunt at The Hotel Dylan whose rooms were recently renovated by The Novogratz’s. I wasn’t able to get into any of the rooms, but this vintage bus in their lot had me swooning.
We went into Santa Fe Woodstock which is the restaurant on Hotel Dylan’s premises. We finished off our hunt with a champagne toast!
We ended our night at Cucina Woodstock an Italian restaurant the had everyone licking their plates.
So many goodies is such a small town. It was fun to go around and check out all of the sites.
Can’t wait to go back!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I am obsessed with these posts because 1) I am planning my sister’s upstate NY bachelorette party right now, 2) we are OBSESSED with Troop Beverly Hills and 3) it’s been really hard to find good girl-weekend advice in one place. Love where you stayed – we are renting a large AirBnB with a pool, as we are going for a long weekend in July. Thanks for the help and congrats to your sis!
Oh fun! You must let me know how your weekend away goes! So happy to have another troop beverly hills fan in my circle. Sadly the majority of the girls at the house hadn’t seen the movie!!!! Madness! I almost made them turn right around. 🙂
Do you have the yoga instructors information? Looking to plan a bachelorette upstate and this was one of the ideas we liked!
I’m sorry but I don’t remember her details. My sister handled that part of it. I’m sure if you ask Foxfire they can recommend someone.
